I recently have had two vacant properties broken into. Thief broke into lock-box and used keys to enter stealing all kitchen appliances.
I am not sure if a rental sign and lockbox is a signal to burglars that the property is vacant and easier to break-in.
I think the sign helps in two ways: 1. It puts the neighborhood on notice that we will be stopping by often to show it 2. It helps rent the house quicker which reduces the time it is vacant. When prospects go to the house from our ad it settles in their mind that the house is truly for rent and we might catch a drive by prospect.
Any advice on preventing vacancy break-ins?
