ActiveRain Gathering LA: Time To RSVP

AR GATHERING LA

It's Settled. An Adult (figuratively speaking) Evening Event It is.

The vote was small, but definitive. 19 for evening adult. 8 for afternoon family. Now onto the important stuff. Following the lead of TLW for the Orlando event, it's time to get a head count so we can plan this thing properly.

We're going to find a coastal location somewhere between Huntington Beach and Santa Monica. I Wish I could be more specific at this point, but I can't. No LA location is going to please everyone. This place is just too vast. So...

June 9th, 2007. Evening Event. Somewhere between Santa Monica and Huntington Beach.

WE NEED RSVP's AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE.

Pretty please, don't clutter the comments with all of the reasons why you can't make it. We'll miss you, but right now we just need to get a good idea who is coming. So we can arrange the right size venue.

Well, so far this LA Gathering is not going to be much larger than my nightly family dinner. :)

THe Yardhouse in Long Beach would be a great spot

The Crab Pot has a large outdoor deck on the Marina and great food, there is ample available parking. Great place.

Joes crab shack is always fun, is on the marina and has ample parking.

The Skyroom is gorgeous, old world hollywood style glam charm, is at the top of a fabulous historic bldg in Downtown, has 360 views to die for from the old bell tower and could be a contender if it is within the budget. Valet Parking available.

Da Vincis is a new restaurant, fashioned after the Mandalay Bay, is gorgeous, has large outdoor deck overlooking the runways at Long Beach Airport, is convenient to the freeway, has valet and ample parking.

How about old town pasadena? Parking isnt the greatest but there are plenty of fine restaurants. There are too many places to mention

All... I'm leaning toward Long Beach. It's a good middle ground for those desiring to come up from San Diego.

Cool Long Beach sounds great to me and I am most other that are attending will be pretty cool with that as well.

I am pretty excited about meeting all of you :)

Gang... trying to nail down a location requires a good estimate. So far only 34 people, at best have RSVP'd. Seriously? 34 people!

I'm hoping to be there. I've got a small conflict I'm trying to resolve and will give you a definitve answer by the end of the week.

Excellent. It appears we're going to have less than 50 people, so that actually makes finding a location easier. I may have one locked down now. I will post when I do.

I already RSVP'd but I only said for me I will bring my husband. I will also talk it up in my office.

Tina.. I already counted you as two. :) We've had 36 people RSVP so far, so I've settled on a place that will hold 60. We are confirming the date and the number tomorrow and I'll have an update for everyone then.

LaShon... we are.

I'm going to try to make it. I had been hoping to fly down and back the same night,but this event starts at 8pm and the San Jose airport has an 11pm curfew. So I may just have to drive down (yuk). But if so, I'll drag my teens along and we'll go look at some colleges :)

Hi, Jeff!

I'm just a Newbie to AR. Is it too late to RSVP? I would love to meet everyone!

Jeff - count me in for sure! I'm going to the LA area with my daughter to check out Loyola Marymount University (showed it to my son last summer - fabulous school) and I will be there on the 9th (hope you have room for one more!). Can't wait to meet you all then.

Marie... at this point I think we've moved past the 60. I am right now scrounging for some money to pay off the fire marshal.

Have you called the restaurant? At that hour they may be able to provide us with a larger room. Can't hurt to ask.

If they can't, the entire 3rd floor is the bar lounge area and is fabulous. We can serve the food downstairs and all migrate up to the lounge. The view is phenominal up there.

Don't sweat it, it will be fine.

OH and by the way, anybody want to get to Parkers Lighthouse early, leave your names here, we can all meet up in the lounge.

Laurie... I'm not sweating it a little bit. Unfortunately, it's June and graduation time and wedding time, so this is the only room they can reserve for us. I figured, given the collective strength of the personalities gathered, we'd probably own the restaurant by the end of the night anyway. :)

Laurie, when I first thought I'd fly down and back, arriving early was in the cards. But now I'm merging this trip with a visit to Loyola Marymount U with my daughter. I might arrive a little early but not lots. Look forward to meeting you, Jeff and all soon.

How exciting to have 60 people at this event! I can't wait to meet you too! This Saturday is quite hectic for me. My grandson has a musical recital and I have to help my daugher pack for a flight with her kids to Asia. It's going to be a packed day and night - so I may not be able to stay too long. But I will be there. See you then!

We're shoring things up even as I speak. My wife and I are looking forward to a night out!
