Most people know that there has been a vote to incorporate into a village of Campton Township.  Today I received the following e-mail:

CAMPTON HILLS, ILLINOIS - The Committee to Incorporate the Village of Campton Hills is holding a meet and greet with the 21 candidates for village official positions on Thursday, May 10th from 7-9pm.  The 500 residents who signed the petition to place the incorporation issue on the ballot have been personally invited and will receive priority entrance to hear a brief biography from each candidate and then to informally mingle with the candidates asking questions one-on-one.   This meeting will be held at the Campton Township Community Center located at 5N082 Old LaFox Road, St. Charles, Illinois.  As space allows, the general public will also be allowed admittance. Feedback forms will be provided to those that attend.

What I find interesting is that the slate that won has stated that they are not going to raise taxes in order to "preserve" Campton Township.  Already people are saying that the internal organization that won is saying or insuating that they can't run a new village without new taxes.  Therefore, either the slate that won is incredibly stupid and had no idea what they were doing or else they lied in order to get their agenda passed.  If they're stupid should they be running a village?  If they're just liars...maybe they're perfect politcians, but they shouldn't be leading a village...especially one that is expensive to live within in the first place.  I wish that politicians would run under a truthful campaign, but I guess I'm digressing here.

What's upsetting about this e-mail is that the new government that is suppose to interview people for the open positions to represent all of campton hills...is inviting only those 500 residents who signed the position.  I thought the government was supposed to represent all in their district to the best of their abilities...that means seeking out the opinions of those with whom you may not agree with.  The e-mail continues..."as space allows, the general public will also be allowed admittance." Very discretionary and subjective.  I'm glad that we have new leaders that espouse to fairness.  What does "as space allows" mean?  Does it mean that if only 3 people show and when the fourth comes and is found to not have signed "their petition," does it mean that space doesn't allow?  What are the determing factors here????

Further, only 13 out of 21 candidates were interviewed for the available positions according to what I'm hearing.  If the newly elected powers are to represent the entire body of Campton Hills wouldn't they interview ALL candidates so that they can make a true and well informed opinion to the Judge who will be ratifying this election.  I don't mind losing in elections.  But they needed to run a truthful or at least a semi-intelligent campaign.  They ran a campaign to win an election, not a campaign to serve the citizens of Campton Hills....there's a huge difference there!!!!!

Just goes to show that the sleaze can be brought down to a local level....gross.....

One more note....I hate when people complain without trying to do something about it.  I ran for "supervisor" of Campton and lost.  I feel that I lost to a decent person.  However, since I did lose, but did run, I have the right to complain.  I want fairness and truth and transparency from the government that is coming into power.  I don't feel that this proposed government is much better than a 3rd world country government.  Thanks for letting me vent.....
