Blogging- It isn't Brain Surgery

By
Real Estate Agent with Century 21 Beal, Inc College Station, Texas

Brain Surgery Brenda HarmonFew things are more overwhelming than a blank page or computer screen staring you in the face.

We all have our opinions but getting them down on paper scares some people.

There are all kinds of blogs, informative, tech sharing, war stories ( there is even a group called that),

wordless, etc.  However, people will never know you or your thoughts unless you let us into your head or

your heart.  It's just like starting to walk you have to let go of the furniture and go for it.

The important thing to remember is that it isn't brain surgery.

Brenda, like Nike says, "Just do it!".  It can be intimidating or overwhelming, but once we start blogging every day, it becomes easier!

Thanks for posting to http://activerain.com/groups/virtualoffice

Okay, if you say so. It may not be brain surgery but it is seems hard at times.

If one just starts a sentence, then pretty soon that sentence becomes another one and another one then we have a whole paragraph.  Sometimes i reread and edit mine several times before I am done.  During the editing I can realize there is another blog inside this one.  Mainly, you are right, just do it, make it simple, it doesn't have to be a novel. Its a blog post.  :)

Brenda - You are so right.  Sometimes its just hard to get the momentum going!  It's kind of like getting on a treadmill, easier to keep going than to get started!

Regina,

I agree.  Nike had the right idea.

Susan,

You are right but it is doable.

Gail,

I do the same thing.  One post reminds me of something else.

C,

Is it anything you can share?  :)

Lisa,

Please, please never mention treadmill in one of my posts.  LOL  Just kidding.

Good point Brenda.  I just shared a similar thought with someone new to AR.  In the beginning, its just about telling us whats on your mind and let us get to know you.

I get a lot of ideas from my morning papers. Emails from friends usually evolve into a blog as well.

John,

I agree.  Everyone has ideas get them on paper and let us know what you think.

Terry- You are so right.  Ideas are everywhere.  We just have to be receptive to them.

Brenda, No, it certainly isn't brain surgery and your "Voice" will never be heard if you don't blog.  You made some wonderful points and I hope people don't worry so much about it, but just DO it :)

I use the 80/20 rule:

  1. When I'm at a professional site, I try to make 80% of my posts professional and 20% of them personal.
  2. When I'm at a social site, I try to make 80% of my posts personal and 20% of them professional.

Thanks for those words of encouragement. I personally don't like to blog but it is a trait we all have to develop. As I do more of it . I am finding it more and more interesting. Networking is also grown upon me. Being a newby I still seem to enjoy it a lot and learn something every day.  Bloggin is also be seen as social networking tool where your fingers do the talking.

I love it.

Brenda-

Thank you for the insight. I do get a little hesitant to blog sometimes but in the end we just have to realize that not everyone will like our blog but even if one person can learn or benefit from it, then it was a success.

Brandon,

You are right.  I do need to blog more often.  I don't worry so much when people disagree with

me as long as their views are constructive.
