Perspective in tough times.

Got no checkbooks, got no banks, Still I’d like to express my thanks; I’ve got the sun in the morning and the moon at night. – Irving Berlin

I stumbled upon this lyric this morning and thought of its appropriateness to our time now. it is from the song, "I Got The Sun In The Morning" by Irving Berlin and orginally performed by Les brown and his Orchestera. The version below was sung by Doris Day and it was eventually included in the play Annie get Your Gun.

The song was written over 60 years ago right after a decade of turmoil and on the tails of another tough time in our society and yet it gives persepective. No doubt things are tough economically. I could on and on about all the things that are wrong and all the bad things to come, but despair is self fulfillingand is in in times like these that we should all take stock in what we have and be grateful.

Enjoy!

Hi Bo - Reflecting back on American Band Stand I give this song a 90.  It has great rhythm and is easy to dance to.  I'm a "boomer" and generally like music from the 60s but I also love the music from this era as well.

I agree; we do need to take stock in what we have to be grateful and try not to let the negative control our lives.  Positive thinking will move us forward.  We need to keep looking forward.

Bo,

Amen Brother Amen.

When I woke up this morning and saw the sun shining, I thanked the Lord for one more day. Now it is up to me to make the best of it.  You do the the same.

Have a great day

Sometimes we just need to sit back and thank God for all the good things he has given us in our lives.

Bo - you should post this in Thankful Thursdays. I have been attempting to practice this for a time now, my perspective and attitude have become more positive. I was just reading something about how to start this every day. When you get out of bed, as you place one foot on the floor say "thank" as you place the other one say "you". It starts the day with an attitude of gratitude.

There is so much more to life than the doom and gloom all around us if we'll just slow down -- stop, look, listen -- even smell, feel, and taste. Life is a journey, with all its highs and lows, peaks and valleys, ins and outs, curves and straightaways. Enjoy the journey, and take some pictures.
