I'm actually what I'd consider a "newbie" twit - a user of the site twitter.

Although I set up the account awhile ago I'd been staying on the fringes of the phenomenon and decided to get my tweet wet this week.

I am still not 100% sure how to incorporate this into my business marketing strategy (or how it really all works but rest assured there's lots of info out there about it to read)  but I'm up for most anything - especially if it's free and connects me to awesome people around the world and most importantly here in our area.

In the past 2 days I've been twiddicted - reading, following, being followed, tweeting....and then...

This very morning convinced me there is power in tweeting based on a little direct message I received from the CEO of ezinearticles.com, Chris Knight - a webzine I've had articles published at in the past (and need to get back to writing).

I am "following" Chris Knight on twitter & he in turn is "following" me.

I am trying to send each follower a "thanks for following"direct message and I sent one to Chris to say thanks and that I use the articles from ezine@articles as handouts to clients and students and that I love his site.

This morning I got this message back from Chris:

Glad you like it. :-) I followed you because I find the whole Home Staging thing pretty interesting even though it's not my industry.

Chris Knight / ChrisKnight

(YOU too can follow Chris here)
follow me at http://twitter.com/ChrisKnight

That spoke to me.

Even though Home Staging is not Chris's industry, his industry is helping promote it and he himself finds it interesting!  So for any home stager in Chris's neck of the woods - you may have found yourself a follower too!

So with that little testimony I invite you to join twitter and follow me.

Where it leads is up to you!

Update: Recent "tweet" by ezinearticles - Chris mentioned my blog and then linked the home stager catagory here - if you go to that link you'll see some of our very own AR home stagers:

Karen - I have been very active on Twitter for the past six months or so, and I have landed several clients and even managed to recruit two agents!  It has a lot of value!

You know I tweet a bit too... but it comes and goes in waves.  I haven't set myself up to be really good at being consistent with it.  I need to be better.  Thanks for reminding me.....

As a "newbie" I have that need to figure it out and the elation that comes with a new "follower" - so I can understand how it may come in waves in the future Melissa - I do need to work every now and then too ;-)

Karen ~ I just became a little more active (meaning visiting the site) over the last several days, having signed up a while ago like you.  I'm a bit lost there but I did find a Twitter Tutorial on AR that I need to read and hope it will help me figure out what the heck I'm doing.

Karen, AR already takes up too much of my time.  I'm there (tweetville) but, 1) don't get it and 2)it's more than I can handle right now.

The beauty of twitter Ginger is that it's very quick - like one or two sentences max - from this little blog alone - Chris Knight of ezinearticles tweeted me back about giving a shout about the home staging section on their site to literally thousands of others who are following the twits  - on the link he provided are several active rain home stagers who are now being read by thousands.

Glad to see you on twitter too Karen.  I started tweeting a little while ago too and find it is fun and educational.  Lots of people sharing their knowledge - along with what they ate for lunch, LOL.

Hi Karen - I'm @LVRealEstate on Twitter. I've made a lot of connections with it that probably wouldn't have happened on other social networks. It's a great little application!

Twitter is all about being organized. You need something like Tweet Deck to at least keep up. I am embarassed to say that I still haven't figured out how to make a column just for following your favorite people so you can find their posts quickly. Do you know how to do that?

Ooohh..  Loreena mentioned having coffee with you and her.  I am completely ready when you are ready.  I thought she said someone else.

I've added you as my friend on twitter.  Talk with you soon.  @jcannata

Yes Michele, lunch lessons ;-)

Free marketing Kathleen - I'm all about that

Hi John, I'll be following you later thanks for putting your @ there

Oh Annie I wish I knew, I am only a few days actually into this, I think Michelle Minch is the one you need to ask that to - if it comes on a phone application - I won't be using it - my phone is considered a techno dinosaur ;-)

We're meeting on the 6th next week John - you can call Loreena to get the details but would love to see you

I'm more like stumbling Wendy but gaining my bearings slowly ;-)

I just have not got into the Twitter bug yet.  Guess I just don't understand what that really can do for me personally or for my business.  Maybe some thoughts on this would be helpful.  I also have a page on Facebook but do not actively utilize it as a source.  To keep up with AR and my business keeps me hopping and I like to try to offer the highest level of energy to the right avenues.  Am I missing the boat?

Hi Connie, I'm still not 100% sure about twitter's role in my marketing strategy - what I do know is I want to connect to 'twits' (other users of twitter) locally and it's a faster medium to do so - you only have 140 characters to use in each "tweet" (instant comment).

I've also linked my blogs through Active Rain there so they'll automatically "tweet" when I post one and who ever is "following"(readers of my tweets) me can read it if they want to - this feature is in the settings part of your profile. I am still so new and will leave it to the powers that be whether it's working or not - but my example above of a tweet with the CEO of ezinearticles.com shows the power of just one little comment.  It was like free adversting for the few minutes it was up for anyone to read.  More of a market than any of us really need though.

No boat missed - it's just setting its course in my book.
