Once again Hawaii gets to enjoy live professional entertainment, this time with Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reef Band performing at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center.  What a show it was!  He played my two favorites "Brown-Eyed Girl" and "Margaritaville" with the latter saved until the end of the performance.  Buffett was joined onstage by Hawaii ukulele phenomenon Jake Shimabukuro who added to the enjoyment of the local audience.  The crowd included some parrotheads and lots of beach balls tossed around druing the performance.  At the end, a couple of the beach balls morphed into whales that were tossed around which was all great fun (hey, if I want to believe that blue guy thing is a whale, please humor me).

The photo below is the only one I was able to get and Buffett is blocked by the "whale".   But who cares because it was the good music and audience participation that made it all so much fun.

For those who want to catch his Hawaii tour, he is headed to Honolulu next for a forformance on Saturday, February 28 in Waikiki.  Unfortunately, getting to Honolulu may be easier than getting tickets to the show.

Richard - I'm am completely jealous.  As a fellow parrothead, I know you didn't sit down for one moment during the concert.  From the photo, I know you were also doing all the "Fins to the left, fins to the right" gestures, too.  Thanks for the photo.  That must have been a very intimate venue.  How many people attended?  Did you have a tailgate party, too?

Hi Marlene- It was my first Jimmy Buffett concert but it's clear that you are one of his followers because you're right on target with your comments.  Yes, we were standing, dancing, and doing the fins to the left and the right just as you said.  The place holds 5,000 people and it was sold out.  That's not quite as intimate as one would expect for a small island like Maui.

Aloha!

I am sure that was a great concert to see especially in that location.  I wonder when the Beach Boys will be there?  I take that back, I dont think they play anymore.  Oh Well.  I wish you the best.
