Aloha Pat, I hear you about saving and not spending, unfortunately, our economy will only get worse as a result of it. I think it's time to start bartering for business. We need a new consumer paradigm, I'm stuck between wanting an improved economy and being more Eco conscious. It seems that having a consumer driven economy and saving our planet is incompatible. Thanks for commenting.

Kimo - I can definately see how these would be fantastic for your staging jobs there in Hawaii.... Asian is definately a popular look.  Unfortunately it doesn't work as well here in the south.  Thanks for keeping us updated though!  We need the sales!!  go shopping!!!

Aloha Melissa E. thanks for the visit.

Aloha Melissa M.P-1 has a lot of Asian pieces this year for some reason. I have seen some impressive Asian Art collections in some of the Antebellum mansions in the South. Usually it's a theme in a sitting room or den and a period statement referring to the vibrant China trade of the early 19th century. But when it comes to your typical southern home, you are correct it's a bit exotic. Mahalo for commenting.

Kimo, thank you for the heads up! I did see some signs at my local Pier One but I was trying to stay away for fear of having to open up my wallet. :)

Hi there Kimo, I just checked out their sales & bought a natural runner for myself, it had nice beading detail on the side. I like to add an Asian or tropical piece here and there for added interest.

These are some really great deals. A lot of the Pier 1 stores are going out of business in this area.

Aloha Kimo, I know where I am going tomorrow morning!

We may have 10 feet of snow at the end of my driveway but I am dreaming of warmer climes just like any red blooded Candadian at this time of year.

Love those leaves!  Our Pier One got flooded by the Hurricane, so they don't have much clearance, it's mostly all new now.

Aloha Annie, mahalo for the visit. You should check out Goodwill, especially on sale days, usually a wide range of accessories to be had at amazing prices and your recycling to boot.

Aloha Kathy Lee, good hunting!

Aloha Cynthia, Oooo, I'm guessing Papyrus, Ginger, Spider Mums, dried Lotus, and Pandamus. Love the vignette. The dear is great and it ties wonderfully with the metal mirror frame, and the support for the Buddha frieze. Mahalo nui loa for sharing your photos!

Aloha Rich, sorry to hear about the closings, it's going to be very difficult for retail stores in this economy.

Aloha Michelle, 65 F and I'm freezing. I actually have to close the windows at night its so cold. Brrr...

Aloha Cindy, You should go on line they've got a great selection. Mahalo for visiting.

Kimo, that bark bowl would look great on a table or counter top with a few nice green limes in it.

Thanks!

The point is not Hawaii decorating .....the point is if you are savvy you can find good design on the cheap....Oriental goes great in the south mixed in with formal English and with very modern design...it is not the price tag it is the eye that beholds it ....Kudos !

Aloha, Kimo!  I for one LOVE Pier 1 and the local store manager knows me by name (I don't know if that's good or bad)  but I DO hope that you have submitted your resale number to Pier 1 if you have one - because then you get ANOTHER 20% off everything you buy & deferred sales tax  (usually every 3 months depending on your states reporting requirements)   =)
