Tornado sirens will no longer be tested the first Saturday of the month in Douglas County. Beginning May 6, the sirens will sound at 11:00 a.m. the first Wednesday of the month. The change to weekday testing will result in reduced staff costs according to Paul W. Johnson who is the director of the Douglas County Emergency Management Agency. The change will also make it easier for schools to do tornado drills.
Sarpy County is considering making the same change to weekday testing.
