"Ignorance on Fire is Better Than Knowledge on Ice."

Ever since I hear this quote several years ago, it just stuck.  When I think of this statement, I am reminded to "just get out there and DO IT!"

I am a perfectionist at heart, so if you need a flyer or a brochure, I can easily spend several months perfecting it before it goes to print.  I'll stay up until 3:00am polishing up a presentation that I've done dozens of times before.  Don't even get me started on a website... or a BLOG for that matter!  This strength (or weakness, in some cases) is what makes me a good Loan Officer.  There are no surprises at closing since I've double checked everything, and then checked again, just to make sure. :)

However, when it comes to sales and relationships, things are not always perfect.  In fact, in many cases, things don't have to be perfect.

So let me ask you... What things have you been putting off, waiting for the perfect moment.  What things have you not done, because they weren't quite ready yet.  Take it from me, just get out there and DO IT!  Get in front of people!  Throw your brochure together and print it on cheap paper.  It's OK to perfect things along the way!

My point is, there are those who are sitting in their office perfecting their thoughts and plans, while others, who don't know any better, are out there shaking hands and making the phone ring.  This is NOT, which would you rather be?  Because, I know you may prefer to be the perfectionist.  This is about, which one will help you meet more people and get more referrals?  Now, JUST GET OUT THERE AND DO IT!

There's nothing wrong with perfection!

You keep doing what works for you and you'll keep being successful.

I hope you write a lot of loans this weekend.....And remember, penmanship counts!!!

Your equally perfectionist friend,

Craig

Craig - Thanks for the feedback.  I corrected the spelling! :)  And, YES there is nothing wrong with perfection, we just don't want the ultimate pursuit of it to freeze us from doing what we ultimately do best... serve people.

Loren - Thanks for the heat!  I still have a long way to go in perfecting my time management skills. :)

I loved this title, thanks for sharing this.  We can definitely get caught up in not releasing/immersing until perfected.
