Moving to Florida is what every American contemplates, even if he/she does not know it, or lives in California, which is a totally different world altogether.

This is the American Mecca. aliki condoSimply a fact of life ... or death, as both involve paradise... or heaven...

And why move to Florida, if not to live on the Ocean? Well, not in the water, of course, but as close to it as you can. And of course, living on the ocean means being on the top floor. Forget ocean view; this is something, while not shameful, not quite the class. Say "No" loud and clear to all these substitutes of the paradise. Paradise is right on the ocean, it is direct oceanfront, East, stupid, east...

If not, why be in Florida? If not in Heaven, why die?

Living in Penthouses is expensive, or very expensive, or unbelievably expensive... or so expensive that to buy them at distressed 50 cents on a dollar you may need to be Bernie Maddof. And that helps filling other floors beyond the penthouse level, and even makes us spill to a somewhat shameful ocean view, and we are not going to insult the public mentioning those who have little or no Ocean View.Pool Those poor souls are not quite in Florida. They are not yet in Paradise.

Magnificent towering condominiums, exotic palm trees, even more exotic gorgeous women on the beach, show-white yachts... Life is like you are in paradise. Well, you are. Those high rises are not good even for suicide. By the time it takes you to fly down, you may change your mind... So everything is cool.

Bask in the dream for now. Because in my next blog I will dissect every statement I made here. Why? Because I am an agent in paradise.

lighthouseLet this one be our Florida dream. The next one is with a dose of reality to add to this dream. So that when you wake up, you are still in love with Florida.

Like I am.

Hi Jon, Have you been to California? If so, I think your analysis is interesting , linking them as the about the same. I used to live in Fla and California does not resemble it much.

Fla- lots of humidity and bugs  Ca- very low humidity and very few bugs to contend with.

Fla- not so interesting topography   Ca-magnificent topography

Fla-more affordable   Ca-less affordable

Fla- lower tax rates   Ca-high tax rates

They do share lots of sunshine and moderate to high temperatures but otherwise, they are not that similar

Excusse me...Florida has nicer beaches anyday. It is hard to enjoy California when you can't affordia to live there.

William - completely my fault. I did not have any intention to present them as alike. I was too awkward, and it did not work, but my idea was "not knowing it or living in California, which is pretty much the same" in a sense that California is more like its own place. And then, you are too far from us, and thus I would have to exclude you from the rest of Florida dreaming population (LOL).

I changed the wording, thanks. it is clearer now.

Nicholas -  And warm ocean. Californians come to Florida and enjoy warm ocean water.

You can get awfully comfortable living at the beach.  And don't forget all the fabulous theme parks and other recreation that Florida has and no other place has.  Where else but Florida can you take your kids to a first-class theme park every weekend if you want?

Jon, I am from California.  I always, and still do think that it is Paradise - but it is very expensive to live there and there are more and more restrictions everyday.

Florida is a beautiful state as well with so much to do and see.  And the beaches in Florida, yes, warm enough to actually swim in, what a bonus.

Rob- yes, we do have world class entertainment, the  best in the world, and it is right here in Central Florida, just one hour drive from Daytona, where I am.

Thank you for your input
