The automatic Autoresponder has been getting a bad reputation for quite some time. It is lumped in with bad practices like spam and cold calling, but it really doesn't have to be. The problem is that many autoresponders have been abused.

Unscrupulous internet marketers have gathered valuable e-mails, names, and phone numbers using free courses as bait, only to later sell that information to people who would flood your e-mail with unwanted offers. This was never the intent of the autoresponder and it doesn't have to be this way. You see, most of the advice on using autoresponders has been to manipulate people instead of helping them to learn.

Use Autoresponders to Help People Learn

Autoresponders can actually be quite helpful when used with good intentions. For those that have abused them, this article won't apply, but for those who want to provide true value to their next customer, read on.   Effectively using an autoresponder means placing yourself in the shoes of someone who would make a request online. We have all used the internet to search for information and seen a course that looked great, only to be disappointed by a barrage of e-mails after we signed up. Be different than the rest and you will keep people waiting on your every word.   You can gather information, make sales, and be respectful of people's information if you just follow some simple steps.

  1. Frequency of E-mails - When someone makes a request for information don't barrage them with e-mails every day for a year. Teaching someone a particular skill or piece of information can easily be done over a 3-5 day period. After that focus on a lower frequency of updates allowing the user to enjoy your updates and not feel bothered by new information.
  2. Length of E-mails - No one will believe that you wrote an 500+ word e-mail to them, they will know it is from an auto responder. Write short, concise e-mails that can be dripped to users over a period of time so they have the appearance that you wrote them as an individual. This will increase the read rate of your e-mails as well as get them to take action.
  3. Ability to Opt-Out - Not everyone will want to stay on the autoresponder for an extended period of time. Give each and every person the opportunity to opt-out should they want to. If you are really sending valuable information then your opt-out rate will be a low 1-3% so keep that in mind if you are experiencing higher numbers.

Automatic autoresponders are a truly powerful way to build a list of interested visitors in a variety of topics. Especially in real estate, when many internet users start their search a few months before a purchase, using an autoresponder can save time and give the consumer the information they have been craving. Just take the time to set up your autoresponder correctly from day one and you will have a loyal following and people your list will constantly be craving for more. http://www.aweber.com/?303072
