I am not a fan of restaurants that become popular and start opening multiple locations... it just usually seems to be the beginning of the end for a "good thing". That was my fear years ago when Café Brazil started opening new locations. Perhaps they are the exception that proves the rule because years later, they are still around, their quality is intact and they still make me happy!
Café Brazil is up to 10 locations around Dallas now. They offer a hybrid sort of product... it's part coffee house (some locations even have live music) and part restaurant (offering breakfast, lunch and dinner all day long). They are also part traditional service, however, if you want coffee, it is a bottomless cup and self-service from the 6-8 flavors being brewed at any time.
Many people find the menu at Café Brazil to be surprisingly large. They offer an extensive breakfast menu, salads, sandwiches and several entrée style selections. They also offer a big selections of cakes, pies and other desserts along with a rotating selection of brewed coffee and coffee specialty drinks. Frankly, I am a fan of it all!
I am a big omelette fan, my favorites at Café Brazil are their Spinach Omelette (with Spinach, Feta Cheese, Onions and Tomatoes) or (when I am feeling naughty) their Cheese Omelette (Jack, Cheddar, Asiago and Feta). Both are served with Rosemary Red Potatoes and toast. Other menu favorites of mine include:
- Chicken Crepes (Crepes filled with Chicken Tenders, Spinach, Portabello Mushrooms and Asiago Cheese, topped with Spicy Cream Sauce),
- Brazilian Beef Sandwich (Seasoned Beef Fajita Meat, sautéed Bell Peppers and Onions, Mushrooms, Jack Cheese and our Jalapeno Barbecue Sauce on a fresh Hoagie Roll, served with French Fries and a Jalapeno), and
- Chilaquiles (Scrambled Eggs, Tomatillo Sauce, Onions, Jack Cheese, Tortilla Strips and choice of Chicken, Chorizo or Turkey, served with Black Beans, Sour Cream and Grilled Sliced Tomatoes).
The coffee and desserts are always delicious (and the desserts are fattening, but worth it)... and unlike many coffee shops, the coffee is a bottomless cup!
Café Brazil is genuinely delicious (and if you are not into decaf, also stimulating) bargain. Almost all menu items are less than $10, with most under $8! The servers at every location I have been to have always been friendly and helpful making this a well rounded and enjoyable casual dining experience. Be sure to check the website for locations and hours, most locations stay open late!
