OK, the guys probably aren't as hip to this home decorating tip as the lady REALTORS, Moms, or Stagers, but let me make this suggestion out there to you all,
Maybe It's Time To Have A Rooster In Your Office.
All right, Obe Wan Kenobe, where are you going with this one, cause I am clueless? It all starts back in European lore. You're supposed to keep a rooster in your kitchen to bring you good luck and prosperity. Many women in decorating their kitchens even have two roosters. How do I know these things? I pay attention.
That aside, it seems if you are going to set up a Realtor or business office in your house, and times like we are having are tough,
YOU NEED AN EDGE.
Seems like tomorrow morning it is time to move that bird to where your desk is. Your fortune will turn and you'll have ME to thank for it. All the extra money you'll be making going forward in 2009 will be because of this small change. Send all the excess money you don't know what to do with to ME. Tens and twenties are fine.
You say you are not the believing in luck type when it comes to the housing industry.
What about those sellers and placing those statues in the front yard? Those statues of St. Joseph buried in the yard has got to be a centuries old tradition used to get houses sold. You can even order them on the web as kits.
So don't laugh at my moving the rooster idea. If you have any of your own lucky ideas that you think might work like a rabbit's foot in your pocket or a four leaf clover please share. But in the end as we all know preparation (meaning hard work) coupled with opportunity AND putting yourself in the path of opportunity usually will give you the best chance at luck. And somehow isn't it strange, the harder you work, the luckier you get? (even without the rooster).

Before my staging business, I used to work in marketing, in the catalogue production department for the largest gifware distribution company in Canada. Pages and pages of our catalogues were full of roosters and frog figurines, they were always best sellers. Never knew the story, thanks for shedding some light:)
I never knew this, Gary! I'll have to find a little rooster to put on my desk right next to all my intentions I read several times a day! Happy Sunday!
Hi Gary, So you're telling me that the rooster I have in my kitchen needs to me moved to my office. I'll have to try that. And when the luck comes rolling in I will send a Brinks truck of money to you! You're so funny! You crack me up! My sister has little dwarfs in her front yard. She said they bring good luck. HMMM. I wonder?
Ohhh, I can't wait until Elaine Manes reads this post... lol....
Gary, all cultures have a good luck item or charm, I've heard of frogs, elephants, religion figurines and even some plants. But this is the first on roosters. Amazing and odd.

Gary - And here I thought that Roosters were just a trendy theme-y thing to do in your kitchen. Now I know the meaning - I've learned my "something new" today.
I didn't used to need luck because I was prepared. All my extra time was spent looking at homes and expanding my market awareness of what's currently for sale. Then I started blogging.......!
I will be running out tomorrow to get a few roosters for my office and the home office.
You may not believe this, but I swear it's true. Last year, before my office moved to a new and improved location, we had a pet rooster.
Seriously.
It had gotten loose from the local county fair and sort of just squatted in the field area by the office. It would come to the door for food and fun.
When we re-located we found a local farmer to adopt the rooster.
That was when things started going downhill, so there may be some truth to your story, too!
I had a rooster in the house with my first wife, she didn't like what it did to the floors. Good luck charms are a good motivator if nothing else. The harder i work the luckier I get. Having an edge is one of the things we do need to have. Something that makes people remember you. I have an undecorated Christmas tree in the office. It is my 'Whispering' Pine. I have had a couple people call and ask if I was the guy with the tree in the office...my edge!
I've always wanted a rooster in my kitchen---now I know why...I do have some cows in my office though... hmmm...as for an edge...I often feel I'm on one, but don't really have one of my own..I've got some work to cock-a-doodle-doo!!!?
Great idea! I love Roosters and I will move some into my office. Will keep you posted...
Gary--I had no idea that decorating your kitchen with roosters actually had a meaning behind it...I just thought that was someone's idea of decorating (for me, I don't have a rooster in my kitchen b/c that's not really my style, but maybe now I'll reconsider, LOL!) I don't have any good luck ideas...just a lot of hard work and I believe in the power of prayer--God will bless you if you ask Him too!
Have a great night,
Anne Rains
Hi Gary—Both of my sisters have several roosters in their kitchens. I don't have any roosters because the kitchen glorified camp site I cook in is rather rustic... half of the house is under renovation! I do have my good luck Chinese frogs all around and even a tiny Japanese one in my purse. I think whatever works whether it's a frog or a rooster :-) Of course, you can never leave out the hard work or the help we receive from above!
HI Gary, never knew the good luck theory of Roosters. That explains a lot. I think people took it too far in the 80's as we Stagers well know. Elaine Maines will have a fit when she sees your post! LOL!!
I subscribe to the philosophy that the harder (and smarter) I work, the luckier I get. So much so, it's my tag line! "The harder I work the luckier you get!"
"Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity"
I believe it's a quote by Seneca.
Very nice rooster. I guess it wouldn't hurt to try it out...If all the Realtors went out and bought a rooster each, we may stimulate economy better than the Fed Govt. At least there wouldn't be any pork in our purchases.
Ok, I will move my one rooster to my desk. Then I'm going to buy mini roosters for all my listings and put them in the seller's kitchens and then Gary, I will let you know when your UPS package is on the way. :)
Hi Gary, Great posts! I athought having rooster in your kitchen was the thing to do not knowing it meant anything. I have a few roosters in my kitchen and NOW i have one in my office. So let the luck begin. Let's see what happens. Have a good night........
