Is Gene Wunderlich a Texan?

I just noticed a featured post by Gene Wunderlich of Temecula, CA, entitled "Fixin To Get Cooked In The Squat" http://activerain.com/blogsview/959042/Fixin-To-Get-Cooked-In-The-Squat.

Curious about this Californian that used Texas talk (also Southern talk) in his title, I read his post and then read his profile but I saw no mention of him being a transplant from the Lone Star State.  He even talked about making homemade biscuits from scratch like he knew a lot about it, so I figured he had to be a Texan or from some other Southern state but I must be wrong.

I wonder if he says y'all?

Hi Shirley, Definitely from the South, or his Mama was from the south if he knows how to make homemade biscuits!  Just my guess.

I would also have to say, the South has to be in his blood some how. To know how to make homemade biscuits.

Hi Dale, I love me some homemade biscuits.

Hi Mary, That's my guess as well.  I forgot to comment on his post.  Need to do that.

Thanks for the mention. I grew up in Southern Colorado and now live in Southern California. My Mama was born and died in the same little Colorado mining town and my Grandma was from Austria. But she made a heckuva fine biscuit in her old Monarch coal & wood stove. Kids today don't know about that. They set the oven to 375 and pop in the Pillsbury and the biscuits come out just right. Back in the day you made the dough and either went with drop biscuits or rolled em out. But the trick was the stove. Not enough wood, the oven cooled down, biscuits didn't cook proper. Throw in a couple sticks of wood, the heat jumped up, biscuits could get cooked in the squat. Heck, you Southern folks arenb't the only ones know how to cook. You just do it better than most. Besides that, Mary's from Colorado and Dale's from New Hampshire. You're both further from the south than I am.

Hi Gene, Thanks for letting us know a little bit more about you.  I enjoy personal stories.  Actually, Dale is originally from Missouri but I am pretty sure Mary is a native Coloradoan (or is it Coloradan?)  Anyway, thanks again and have a great week.~

Hee Hee! Yes further from the South, than Gene.  But my husband was born in Houston, and his family is in Oklahoma -- now those Aunt's know how to make biscuits!  LOL!!  You were right the first time, Shirley, Coloradoan. :-)

Wunderlich is a name of some folks over in New Braunfels, TX. When I first started reading I thought maye he was from New Braunfels but I guess Wunderlich's are also in Colorado. However, sounds to be Gene knows about cooking those biscuits (how about homemade dumplings, since we are talking food).
