My Personal Challenge P90x; Not Real Estate related, but Body and Mind

So I just finished day 4 of my 90 day P90X challenge.  I'm sure many of you have seen the infomercials with Tony Horton for P90x.  A good friend of mine had the DVD set and I've been wanting to try it but just never got around to actually doing it.  Well I've finally decided to do it and also have my wife involved to commit to this 90 day challenge.  P90x involves an extensive varieties of moves using your body, weights or bands and a pull up bar to create an intese work out.

I always thought I was fairly in shape, though I never really exercise.  I mean I'm fairly skinny but I have realized in the past year I've put on about 5 lbs which doesn't seem like a lot, but I have been at the same weight for the past 7 years.  I think my body is finally starting to slow down a little.

There are 12 DVDs in total and depending on what phase you want to tackle a different plan for each.  Each day has roughly an hour workout with the 7th day being either a rest or X-Stretch day.  Here are all the DVDS: Chest & Back, Plyometrics, Shoulders & Arms, Yoga X, Legs & Back, Kenpo X, X Stretch, Core Synergistics, Chest, Shoulders & Triceps, Back & Biceps, Cardio X, and AB Ripper X.

Believe me this really is a work out!  We have yet to actually be able to do every move in the DVDs.  To give you an example the first DVD was basically 20 push ups, 20 pull ups, 20 different push ups, 20 different pull ups......and over and over again for an hour!  My legs, arms, shoulders, abs....everything is very sore.

It sure will be interesting to see what results come of this.  It is not easy to commit an hour a day but I am going to try my hardest.  I'm almost certain we should see some results, I mean from doing nothing to this, there has to be some visual changes.  One thing I decided I wasn't going to do was take all the supplements, pills, and shakes.  I've also decided to keep my diet the same too.  I'm not going freakishly healthy here.  I'm sure Tony wouldn't have liked to hear I had pancakes and bacon for breakfast today!

If anyone has also tried this or completed the challenge I would be interested in hearing from real people what you thought.  I'll keep you posted on the progress!  Maybe even some pictures later :)

I'm sure you will be sore for a little bit, but just keep at it.  Eventually the pains actually feel good and translate into GAINS!

Ryan,

I just bought p90x off ebay and it arrived today... Its sitting on my desk staring at me... I guess the madness starts tonight!

I'll keep you posted, but let me hear some updates from you as well..

Take a look at the group Weight Loss Resolutions

I have been a staunch supporter of this group and it has helped me to drop a good deal of weight, but after the new year fades, so does support.... Anyhow, we could use some fresh motivated people!

Good luck

Sean

Sean,

I just started week 8 of 12 weeks.  It definitely takes devotion and scheduling.  A few words of advice is don't eat 1-2 hours before working out, especially when doing work outs the move around a lot.  I've seen my strength improve, but visually I have not seen a lot; don't really expect it though.  I'm not taking the supplements or doing crazy diets, just plain working out.  Best of luck!

p.s.  Try and get someone to work out with you too.  It is much easier.
