I'd like to see how many people respond to this post.

Do me a favor - after you've posted how many people you know - please ad up the total and post the total number at the very end of your post.

So this should work like this:

I finish my post with a number "5".

then the next poster's number is a 4.  He then adds them up and puts a 9 at the end of his post.  Next poster knows 1 person who lost their job in past few months - they put a 10 at the end of their post.

so how ever many people you know that lost their job - say "I know X amount of people" etc. - then at the end of the post add up the previous poster's last number and your X and put that at the very end of the post.

Let's see where this goes.

My brother-in-law lost his job in December - working for a major bank - plus I know 4 other people - some clients and a friend that lost their job in past 6 months.  So my number is 5.

SO NEXT PERSON WHO POSTS - PLEASE AT THE END OF YOUR POST - PUT THE TOTAL NUMBER (NUMBER OF PEOPLE YOU KNOW WHO LOST JOB + MY NUMBER (5)

ALSO - Please bold and center the last number.  Hope this makes sense and people respond.

5

My business puts me in the face of this crisis every single day!  It's heartwrenching.

Even without being put in the face of this crisis, the numbers are up there.  I'm adding my 10.

My husband & father-in-law [worked for the same company], several friends, 2 past clients that I know of. In total, at least 9 people. I will be so glad when the economy does turn around.

Honestly, not a single one.  I see it going on around me, I read about it in the local media, but I don't know one person personally who has lost their job.

I know of one.  That's it.  But I do see a lot of busy realtors who are selling houses, who have lots of buyers, who are putting deals together.  I am extremely busy as well.  I evidently live in a parallel universe, because when I turn on TV, it appears the world will open up and swallow us all whole and it will be the end.

Drives me nuts.

Thanks for feedback Fred - Just remember - put the number at the end of your post - in this case - 0 + 41 = 41.

And I have to say, that the point of this post is not to suggest the world will open up and swallow us - lol - but i know how you feel, but rather - and now that I think about it - maybe a post like this kind of is a bumber...

ATTENTION TO THOSE WHO POST FROM HERE ON OUT (if it gets more comments) -

If you know of someone who lost their job, but gained employment or started a business or whatever - they're making money  -  post it and let us know about it!

From here on out - Let's do this:

UNEMPLOYED = 41

HAS SINCE FOUND A JOB = 1

Just keep adding to these numbers.  If you posted on here someone who lost a job from a previous comment on here - and they're working now - please DEDUCT them from our unemployed number.

Okay so - right now numbers are:

UNEMPLOYED = 41

HAS SINCE FOUND A JOB = 1

Four for now, but the numbers could go up later this year.

I would add 75,000 right now...that's the unemployment here locally on Long Island (I'm rounding the number).  Unemployment has jumped to 7.5% here locally.

Amazing!
