Well, maybe not.  But John Cook, a VC reporter for the Seattle PI Newspaper wrote in his blog about comments from people stating they didn't want to use Zillow's new features for fear the tax man (aka assessor) will commeth.  Turns out, those fears could come true.  Cook contacted the King County Assessor, Scott Noble, and posed the question to him...the Assessor's response?

"We don't utilize Zillow in our valuations," he said. "Ours is more of a historical exercise than a forecasting mechanism."

Nonetheless, Noble said the new Zillow service could be used as a tool to make sure that homeowners are paying their "fair share."

"If the particular individual is doing a major remodel off the books, sure we will utilize every tool to pick up those changes because it is only fair to spread the burden among all," he said.

My home is undervalued in Zillow but the tax man isn't buying it.  They don't use Zillow to determine tax value.  In fact the numbers for my house are exactly the same as what our county calls "limited tax value"  The value at which it is taxed not the value if it were sold or appraised.
