It was a joyful noise! Our third granddaughter entered the world on February 10, 2009. She arrived yelling at the top of her lungs protesting leaving that safe womb of her Mother. Welcome to the world, Baby Payton!! We know you will make it a better place just by your presence. You bring joy, happiness and hope with you wherever you go. I hope your future is bright and that the big world treats you with respect and open it's arms to the magical little person you are.

I have been away from my home in Nevada City for three weeks because I have been staying with my daughter and family. Life is NEVER dull here. With an almost five-year-old and a three-year-old, one dog and five cats, chaos reigns supreme! We have had the loss of two front teeth and two visits from the Tooth Fairy by eldest sister, middle child decided to baby powder her carpet and drawers and clean her books with carpet cleaner and the dog ate a bar of scented soap with no ill effects. Meanwhile, my daughter just navigates through this craziness with a positive attitude enjoying and treasuring each and every moment.

When I look across the valley here in Fresno at the snow capped southern Sierra Nevada Mountains, I am reminded of my own little piece of paradise in Nevada City. I miss my mountains and I miss my tall pine, fir and cedar trees. On the other hand, I'm glad I missed all the snow we had this past month. Maybe the month of March will tempt us with some harbingers of Spring. I want to see all of my Daffodils in bloom and, hopefully, my Forsythia shrubs will burst forth with branches of bright, yellow sunshine.

One last thought------ I had not been to Costco since July 6, 2005. I know, that is practically UnAmerican, but it is true. I went this morning with my daughter and Payton. I was shocked--------did you know you can buy caskets as you walk out the door of Costco??? Of course you did! Enough said. Have a wonderful month of March.
