Happy Birthday

Today was a laid back Sunday for us at the Doriguzzi household.  Not a normal thing as we are always on the go.  We celebrated my husband's 32nd birthday today.

9:00 am Hunter and I got busy making the birthday cake.  I am not a baker or a cook but Hunter wanted to make it this year for daddy.  It was alot of fun making a mess in the kitchen.  Thank goodness for Pillsbury and their cake in a box recipes.  Just add water, eggs and oil and then voila a cake!  Add a little bit of premade chocolate frosting and add some candy birthday words and here is what you get!

Charlie Birthday cake  The masterpiece!

So what do you get the guy that has everything? I let Hunter ( 3 1/2 yrs old) loose at Walmart and let him figure out what Daddy might want for this special day.

He got a flashlight, 6 white T-shirts ( it was that or the batman underwear)  and of course some beef jerky.  Throw it all in a blue and purple polka dot birthday bag and he couldn't be happier!

Can you tell why I don't bake that often??

Naoma, These are the things Hunter will remember, the cakes may not be perfect but they are precious. We had some interesting Easter Eggs in my house!

Thanks everyone, the look on the boys face when the candles were lit was enough to make me smile for a while, Ethan smacked the cake getting frosting all over his hands and smeared his hands all over his face. Hunter acted like he hadn't eaten in 2 weeks wanting more and more....LOL what a perfect day with the family.

Naoma the thought is what counts. You could've just went to your local supermarket store in Virginia Beach,VA and have brought him a cake. But you spent a like probably 4-5 long hours on the stove putting that cake together. If that's not love I dont know what is. Happy Belated birthday Charlie. Great post.

Lanre - yeah it was much more fun this way.  Besides - I might not have had such a great blog post if I had bought a cake
