Greetings to all, and thanks for coming by.

When it comes to 'Green' I must confess that I am a little conflicted. You see the 'Other' in my Real Estate - other description, Is buying and selling rural land. Like this Property in the San Luis Valley, Colorado.

I do see the need to plan and sometimes Restrict growth as our Country's population grows. But feel both 'Green' and 'Growth' can live side by side.

I do admit helping others fulfill their dreams of owning land is definitely one of the most rewarding directions I have taken in my life.

While I do not profess great knowledge when it comes to environmental issues, it can not be ignored that collectively We have made a mess. Selfish interests by National Governments needs to be countered by Individuals willing to make a difference, whether 'Great' or 'small'.

So starting out with baby steps. I am making the effort to educate myself, and to provide my clients with a place where they can find 'Green' options for their new land. While at times I wanted to give up and pay someone else to do the 'job' Homequest USA has its first website.

On its 'Alternate energy' page & 'Build your own Home' page, I will contine to gather fresh information and educate myself at the same time.

Probably the Greatest challenges will be to make our over crowded Cities Environmentally friendly. Check out this story by Mark Joyner, about this Building in Melbourne, Australia

I appreciate the insight I have gained already in my short time as part of the Active Rain community, and as a member of the ECO-ALL STARS~ The GREEN Scene Group.

It's 6:40am and I better go to bed.

Have a nice day!

Albert~

First of all, WELCOME...and most of all THANKS YOU...you commented, "So starting out with baby steps. I am making the effort to educate myself, and to provide my clients with a place where they can find 'Green' options for their new land...."

What more could we ask of ourselves or others than to bring this energy to our work and lives? As I read your (and the very, very nice comments prior to this one) I could feel my horizons and hope for positive futures expand. THANKS again!

Albert-I agree, regardless of what we want the population will continue to grow!  Somehow, someway we have to find a way to accomodate the population and still watch our enviroment.  Thanks for bringing me here!  Nice Post brother!

Albert, Nice article.

Yes, green and rural development can go together. The level of development should match the current ecological environment of the area to be developed.

Hi Albert, great post and having at least one dedicated page on your site to green subjects will generate media interest first and foremost.  I have a number of pages on my site with varied content which might be a good idea generator.

Albert, sorry I'm late getting here.  This is a great post.  In my area, we have farms with dozens of acres (not hundreds anymore) right next to homes.  That's not bad at all.  What's bad is the developers who apply for variances so they can build densely on the land when it would dilute the character of the entire community.  So far it hasn't happened on a grand scale, but the area is zoned for a home per 5 acres and some of the building is done on lots that are getting smaller and smaller all the time.  Education is key.

The Valley is growing, but what is wrong with smart growth? The locals don't like it, it will never be the same as it once was. But why can't we improve what's there?

Neal,

I had a lot of fun there, and it was very nice to finally meet you in person. From reading your blogs I was hoping that you would be able to help out my Mom and Dad.  I am very pleased that YOU are on the job.

Dena,

You are right 'Smart growth' is the answer.  Iv'e moved around Florida the past 20 years looking for a not so crowded spot, and the crowd always seems to catch up with me.

I believe in Colorado and in the San Luis Valley specifically they will do a much better job of managing growth.  Thanks for stopping by.
