This Sunday night, "60 Minutes" is focusing on the real estate industry again with a segment investigating some familiar topics. The television network has been crisscrossing the country for nine months interviewing brokers, agents, discounters and government figures.

The segment will discuss the impact of the internet on the brokerage business, focus on the emergence of "Internet" business models and contrast them with "traditional" full-service model.

It should be very interesting to see what their research has found".  I know not too long ago someone posted about how they always forget to interview a real estate agent when they're talking about how the market has changed, or how "the bubble burst".  Hopefully this segment will be different.

It is going to air on  Sunday, May 13 on CBS.  Try to catch it if you can.

Thanks for the heads up, Jim & Maria.  I'll make a note to watch it and hope the segment doesn't twist facts and aggravate me with one-sided nonsense.  It would be interesting if the media ran a SURVEY on the success rates of different business models and the level of consumer satisfaction.  Now that's something I'd love to see!

The media is "reporting".  That CAN'T be good.

Any way, I'll watch it to see how many inaccuracies they quote.

I'm glad I could draw everyone's attention to this report.  I'm looking forward to seeing what their research has discovered about the real estate market.  Or at least what they want the public to know.  I'm sure there will be plenty to discuss come Monday morning...

Holy crap...it;s bad for us realtors if you go by this report. you can buy a house online. PLEASE! they show you can do all... but they show a REmax realtor who presents the full service side at 6% but she has no answer for saving buyers money on commissions. it mostly made the discount realtors good like they are the victim. Be ready for questions on this with your clients and prospects.
