Dear Potential Sponsor:
It is with great enthusiasm that The Palm Springs Police K-9 Team and the Friends of the Palm Springs Animal Shelter invite you to become a sponsor of "Dog Day Afternoon". Designed to be fast-paced and fun, this first annual community event will feature police canine competitions, lots of exciting demonstrations, agility tests and dog training exhibitions. "Dog Day Afternoon" is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the Power Baseball Stadium in Palm Springs. We anticipate hundreds of animal loving spectators to attend this well publicized event, which will be interactive and enriching for adults and children alike.
Admission is free with a request for donations at the door. Funds will also be raised through on-site merchandise and food sales with all proceeds shared between these two very deserving agencies serving our community - the Palm Springs Police K-9 Team and the Friends of the Palm Springs Animal Shelter Building Fund.

Please join us in making a very public statement of support for the K-9 Team and the thousands of animals who will receive care and kindness in a state-of-the-art shelter as they await adoption.

BENEFICIARIES
The Palm Springs Police K-9 Team consists of six police officers and canines. Two of the officers and canines are assigned to the Palm Springs International Airport and are trained for bomb / explosives detection. The other four officers and their canines are assigned to the Patrol detail and respond to police calls. One of those canines is cross-trained as a drug detection canine. A police canine, and their handler, work as a two-man team and respond to calls that would normally require two officers. A police canine typically costs around $5,000 and the training required for both the canine and their handler is an additional $3,000. The police canines are purchased through donations from our community. All funds raised for the canine team are used to offset the costs of the purchase and training along with the cost of the food and veterinarian expenses.

The Friends of the Palm Springs Animal Shelter is an all volunteer non-profit organization whose mission is to raise funds in support of the construction of the new Palm Springs Animal Shelter. The architectural design of the new Shelter is underway with particular attention being paid to issues of sustainability, the delivery of state-of-the-art services, public education facilities and the opportunity to engage the ongoing support of the community through volunteerism.
The Shelter will stand as a model for the Coachella Valley in shelter care, green building and community involvement.
Promotional, in kind and cash sponsorships, are being sought to maximize proceeds, build on existing momentum and ensure the future viability of these vital services. For your consideration, we offer various levels of support as listed on the enclosure, each of which features a complement of tangible and intangible benefits.

SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES.
Your company or organization can become involved in this high profile community endeavor and reap the benefits of a promotional campaign that includes local media coverage. Opportunities range from Platinum level at $5,000 to donations of $500. Title Sponsorship is also available. Sponsorship levels include banners, brochures, posters, newspaper, website, radio and television schedules, public address announcements, names and/or logos on the T-Shirt, complimentary entries, preferred seating, and/or a booth at the event.
