Taking The Low's with The High's

One of the primary reasons for the taking the time to write our goals and taking the time to review is to chart our course: to give us an understanding of where we are heading. Sometimes we get off track and our goals act as a gps to "recalculate" and steer us in the right direction.

Last week, I caught up with a client that I haven't spoken with in about three months. His transaction was a lengthy one as it involved the sale of his home, his father's home and the purchase of a home for their combined family. He was raised solely by his dad, never knew his mother, and in giving back to his dad, his goal was to provide a high level of care and give him an opportunity to be with his new granddaughter.

Turns out our conversation last Friday followed the funeral services for his father. I was shocked as the father had been through a recent hip replacement, a tough fall, and seemed to be fairly bulletproof. Just three days prior he had passed away. Even during his sorrow he took the time to thank his agent for pulling it all together and giving him and his family three months together.

It's difficult to tell what kind of impact we have on people. As I found out last week, our impact is large. The real estate industry is a difficult and rewarding industry to work in. Take the time frequently to "recalculate"  and you too will stay on track!

Michael, I'm glad you were able to help them have those precious months together.  The people part is what I love about real estate.
