The Headline in Sunday's paper read something like this:

Watson Realty Welcomes Marjorie Taylor

WAtson Realty Corporation is proud to announce that Marjorie Taylor has joined the award winning St. AugusWatson Realtytine Beach office.

Marjorie brings a wealth of knowledge with her to Watson.  Her varied real estate career experience spans over 27 years and around the world.  From working with Fortune 500 clients locating co-ops in Manhattan, NY to assisting embassy dignitaries find the ideal property in Rome, Italy.  Locally Marjorie has been instrumental in sales and development of some of the areas largest communities such as Marsh Creek Country Club, SeaGrove at St. Augustine Beach and Fleming Island Plantation.

Having been a real estate broker since the 1980's she has in-depth knowledge of the communities where she works.  Her goal is to  match every client with a neighborhood that suits their heart and a home that suits their budget.

According to Taylor "It's not enough to know about St. Augustine and it's neighborhoods.  It's not enough to know how to write a great contract.  Being successful real estate agent means being truly devoted to the people-to-people aspects of the process - listening, negotiating and communicating.  It also means preserving and adapting"

Constantly changing and adjusting her business model, Taylor embraces technology.  She utilizes all the resources available, particularly the Internet.   E-Markeing is extremely important in today's internet-savy world, as more and more home buyers surf the web to view home listing.

She believes that an agent MUST understand and adapt to this significant change in how people review potential properties for sale.  If not, they will be missing a large part of the real estate buying market.

Taylor is always available for her clients, please text or call her direct line 904-591-9121 or send an e-mail to Marjorie@MarjorieTaylor.net."

It was this article, in the St. Augustine Record that prompted a retired IT professional's call to me to list his home.  Who says that Newspaper Advertising is dead?

CONGRATULATIONS!  It's not about newspaper advertising, it's about announcements.  I have my face in the Sunday paper at every opportunity, listing agent of the month, top producer, whatever.  I was in this past Sunday for top lister for last month.  It is SO important!  I get calls because the public likes to know that you are "working" agent.  That was a great article.  If I was looking for an agent, I WOULD CALL YOU!!  GOOD LUCK!!  Let us know how it works for you.

You never know how things will come to you...after my first listing call...an acquaintance of my Mother's...the seller told my Mom..."only men sell real estate..." Glad I didn't listen.

You can drop your business card on the sidewalk and MAYBE someone will pick it up and call you.

Newspapers ARE dead.  Literally.  (Denver's oldest paper just shut down - The NY Times is bankrupt, etc.)  There will be no newspapers as we know it today in 5 years.  They're on life support.

Some people may still read newspapers.  It's a good place to promote your website - maybe even open houses if you still do them (speaking of life support....).  It's a worthless place to promote your LISTINGS.

Take your money and spend it where the eyeballs are and where you get the biggest bang for the buck. Your computer screen.

Diane - I'm looking forward to the "top agent" status that you have achieved.  Thanks for the complement.

Sally - My Mom had the same philosophy, I'm glad that I did not take her advice on that one.  Since the time I was the first girl on the Amityville Jr. High track team, I've always maintained a unique independence and belief that a girl can do anything a boy can do, sometimes even better!

I get most of my news from CNN and the internet.  I know a lot of people like Rick and Terry who don't read the paper.  Although, based on my listing call, I am glad that some people still do!
