I just want to take this moment to say, "Happy Mother's Day, Mom."
Wikipedia defines a word mother as the natural or social female parent of an offspring. In my case I was fortunate enough to experience just that. My mother raised me and was a female role model when I was growing up and even now. Her courage and strength (spiritual and emotional) are truly contagious. Her love and devotion to us, her kids, are always a priority. I am so fortunate to be blessed with such a gift, the unlimited love of the mother.
Unfortunately, not everybody gets to be raised by his/her own mother and not every woman experiences the joy childbirth and raising your own offspring. For instance, Mother Teresa dedicated her life to serving god as a nun, but I can only imagine how many lives she was able to change through the direct interaction with people or by setting a great example of humility, love and care for others to follow.
There are other mothers that give their children away in the hopes of a better future for their young. It involves process of sacrifice and leaving behind all the dreams and joys of raising your children: witnessing them walk for the first time, hearing them saying first words or watching them graduating from high school.
There are mothers that adopt children for various reasons, help them grow and become role models for them. I salute you for the bravery, generosity and sacrifice. Different women, different life paths, different stories. One thing in common-all mothers. So here it is to Mothers Everywhere!
