Spam ? Is this worse than performing an illegal action?

The situation with all of our comments being censored today reminds me of a story my Mon told me. When she first started learning how to use a computer she was alarmed when she got an error message that said :

" You have performed an illegal action"

Having no idea what that meant she called my son, the computer guru, and told him she was being arrested. Imagine my sons shock at the thought of his grandmother being arrested. When he finally got her to calm down she explained what had happened. You can only imagine the laugh we have gotten from this one story.

I am embarrassed to say my Mother is now much more proficient on the computer that I am. She runs a E-Bay business from home. Knows how to download and print photos and keeps in touch with anyone she wants all over the world.

I know this has nothing to do with what is going on today,. I just get such a laugh out of the language used when describing our life on the computer. My wish for everyone is the freedom to comment on my blog. I love to read and make comments. I hope the AR gods have not changed that as well!!!

Barb- When my older son left for college I was so nuts about how I would get anything done on the computer. I would call him at all hours. Now I am pretty good at it.

I guess "illegal" is a very strong word for the internet. I think it's amazing that every age group is now tech savvy.

Reminds me of many of the cartoons that popped up when computers first came to market, like the one that had a guy slamming a hammer down on the keyboard. The caption read, "Hit any key to continue." I used to have a large collection back when I was a network engineer.

Your mom sounds a lot like my mom. She has a fit whenever her computer beeps, regardless of how many times my son (who is 13) tells her it is ok. But I think your post is on point about comments. Aren't they the driving force behind all of the commeraderie and networking that goes on here? Where on earth would this community be without the commenting?

Funny post. My husband is not computer literate...and I really wished he new more about computers....cause he is always yelling to me for "help"....LOL...I keep telling him to take a course, but he says "why, I have you"

Rebecca- When I was learning the computer I used to get so frustrated!!!!When I would ask my kids to show me someting, they would just do it...I would tell them slow down and show me!!! Maybe you need to let your husband actually do the work when he asks you for help...Hands on is the only way to learn..
