You have all heard by now that staging is an important step in selling a house. Well I want to show you.

With 90% of buyers starting their home search online, a picture could literally be worth millions. I came across some photos of houses for sale that could benefit from some staging because I don't know what room they are trying to highlight can you?

I guessed entry way, until I saw the TV in the corner...

I actually have no clue

Dining Room? Gym? Picnic Area? Greenhouse?

Is this a deck, or sunroom or the party room?

If you were searching for a home online, would you want to visit these homes?

LOL! These could win awards for "Bad MLS Photos of the Week"!!  If these are in your area I hope you sent out SOS's to the agents.

Tara ~ good post.  Imagine if we as stagers have trouble figuring out what these rooms are meant to be, how much more difficult it is for potential buyers who are searching online for their next home?  Photos like there should be outlawed!!  LOL   It amazes me that RE agents can even allow these to be taken, much less shown online.  Homeowners need us now more than ever -- to stage their homes, and to provide great photos taken with a wide-angle lens.

I mean - really...what am I missing?  I can't figure out the thought process that's behind a realtor posting pictures like that.  If it's a forclosure and as the realtor you're showing the buyer the condition, I still think I would at least give a description under each photo of what the room/space is.  How hard or much extra work is that?

;)

Wow, that is really something.  There realtor is really not doing them any favours.  They would have been better not to post any pics of the inside of that "home".  How is it they still don't get it?

I love these type of photos -- the good thing is that they make our staged homes really look fabulous online don't they!  Thanks for the fun post!

That's a funny post. I have no idea what those rooms are and neither will potential buyers. Until we give a room a purpose and show it as it is intended to be used, it could be anything. Thank goodness for staging!

Oh man... I thought this was my fun version of this game... but this is more frustrating because I'm sure you didn't get a chance to stage them..... what were these agents and homeowners thinking?

I see these all the time in my neck of the woods.  People still don't see the benefits of staging.  Wake up folks!!

love it....It clearly shows that you have to give the buyer an Idea of the purpose of a room. Most of them have no idea what they can put where.

I want to play! Room #1 - family room addition with a door to the garge?  Room #2 - basement bedroom? Is that a mattress or a door on the right LOL? Room #3 - gym with a pit stop bench? Room #4 - Hurricane damaged Florida room?

Thanks for the entertainment.

I can't believe that you're confused with #2. It's an indoor putting green room, but the pet that went on the carpet stole the flag and ball.

I'm not in love with these homes! And buyers won't be, either. They need you!

Cathy- Where do I submit? LOL! These are not from my area- I was looking at different regions.

Maureen -I am thinking about doing presentations on photos alone, and then giving REA something to give to their sellers about how their homes look on the MLS.

Susan - I couldn't agree more!

Anne - I don't know why REA don't get it yet! My only theory is that they are scared of the sellers.

Margaret - I see them all the time..you should have seen some of them..blows my mind

Tara - Good post. You must have picked many photos from our own MLS! My pet peeve is the Realtor that snaps their own picture while photgraphing the bathroom or leaves the toilet seat up.

Very funny but so true.  I can't believe the home owner would want those pictures online.  I would rather see no pictures.  Thanks for sharing.

Tara - This is a property that could really benefit from staging.  #2 looks like a room in the basement.

If your looking for a room for storage these would work, but they don't look like homes.
