This is from the Washington Post and I just wanted to pass it along in case someone has military clients out there that are in a less densely populated military area.  The economic stimulus package has a $555 million provision to help military members who are required to relocate.  You had to purchase your home before July 1st, 2006 to qualify but most people who are getting ready to relocate this year should fit into qualify.

Best of luck out there to all you hard charging stay in the game Realtors.

here is the link, I didn't want to copy right anyone.

I missed that part of the package!  There's so much in here that's not getting publicized, thanks and I will share in my area.

Brady,

Thank You for the information.  I just heard this today on a finance show.  I have a question for you.  I am actually in the Military, stationed outside of Atlanta.  Do you know who i would contact to see if I am eligible or not?  I PCS (move) in July 2009, and I bought my house in June of 2004.  Thanks for any help that you can provide.  There are very few military in my area, and my Realtor doesn't know where to begin either.  Thanks again for your help.

I've researched info on this for several of my military clients and the way I read the info is that "There has to be an announcement of a base closing or realignment action which affects your community."   Is that your understanding?   If my understanding is correct, that doesn't help home owners in the Colorado Springs area, and our bases our growing in size.

Unfortunately, your information is not true.  i wish it were!  Most service members will not qualify for relief.  Most military members PCS after July 1st.  Also, BRAC policies are irrelevant to many of the military members -- most are required to change duty stations every 2 to 3 years regardless of base closures.
