nemsCongratulations to Tracey Winters!

She was newly appointed as the Principal for Northeast Middles School for the year of 2009/2010.  Ms. Winters will be taking the place of Shari Salyer, who announced her plans of retirement last December.

All of my children have gone to Northeast Middle and it has been a wonderful experience and they have  all enjoyed it.  As a parent, I have not had one problem with any of the teachers or staff.  If anything, I have enjoyed going to the school to pick up my children and chat with the front office.  They are all so friendly and they all look at each other as a family.

We will miss Mrs. Salyer and I would like to personally thank her for being my childrens Principal all these years. My youngest will be a freshman next year at Northeast High, so it is nice that her first and last year at Northeast Middle will have been with Mrs. Salyer.

As for Ms. Winters, she previously has served as an assistant principal at both Northeast Middle and at Richview Middle schools. She currently is Northeast Middle School's academic coach.

"Northeast Middle has a tradition of excellence and achievement. This school community has always been very positive and purposeful in helping students reach their potential," Winters said. "Having previously worked as an administrator at Northeast Middle School, I know personally of the talent, dedication and success of its faculty and staff. I am honored to have a new role in expanding that tradition and vision."

Winters earned her M.A. in Education from Austin Peay State University and her B.A. from Middle Tennessee State University. She has focused her teaching in the middle school arena, having also taught at Rossview and Kenwood Middle schools.

Northeast Middle School's future will be in great hands!
