RV parking for Rancho Carrillo residents in Carlsbad - Jeff DowlerLots of folks own RVs, in various sizes and shapes, and for a variety of reasons. But if you are moving into a new home or condo in some communities including Carlsbad you may have a problem

So what are you going to do about that RV?

In some neighborhoods having an RV is not an issue, provided you can park it off the street, especially if it is a smaller one. On-street parking is usually allowed for a limited period of time but not round the clock. But in some communities RVS are not allowed to be parked in front of the home or in the drive (and many homes don't have the space to begin with). And like it or not there are some folks who do not want to look at RVs parked on the street or in people's yards. So if it is not allowed you must make other arrangements.

Fortunately, a number of Carlsbad subdivisions provide secure parking nearby for residents who own RVs. Such parking is usually limited and on a first come first serve basis. And there may be a charge.

As a couple of examples, Bressi Ranch and Rancho Carrillo, two large master planned communities in Carlsbad, offer these services, as do many other communities. But some do not.

If you are an RV owner looking at housing in Carlsbad and other communities you will want to check on the availability of parking, unless you already have made arrangements to keep your RV nearby. The CC & Rs (Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions) for the subdivision or complex usually lay out the rules about RVs. It is smart to check these are part of your due diligence so you don't make assumptions. You might regret them adn then it's too late.

Hi Jeff - Excellent post.  Owning an RV is not just about the travel, but where do you keep it when you're not travelling.  Good for you for answering the question for your homebuyers in the Carlsbad area!

Have an extraordinary week,

Marlene

Well, I guess we don't worry about that here...only a little ways to go and if we go further we have to get on a plane lol.

Great info for the RV traveler who doesn't travel year round.

Jeff, this is really handy information!  Around here RV owners take a whole bunch of grief if they try to park in the streets.  In the fancy neighborhoods, neighbors call the police.  In other neighborhoods, some neighbors try to move in!
