Today, we will hear the particulars about the new plan to save America from the big bad "foreclosure crisis"

What a farce. The first thing that should be done is to determine if the borrower actually lives there, This will eliminate more than 75% of the problem.

If the borrower lives there, we need to determine if he is in default because of something out of his control (e.g. loss of employment) or that he or she should never have been in the home at all (e.g. never even made the first payment) This will eliminate another 15%

We will be left with ONLY a few tens of thousands of people to help instead of millions and this will be a much more manageable problem. Why should investors or morons get any federal aid?

Hi Michael,

I think the Obama administration is still missing the point.  The problem is the 10 million (and growing) homeowners that are underwater.  Until demand increases in order to absorb the excess supply and home values stop falling, there is still going to be systemic risk in the housing market.

Mark,

I agree completely. The housing market won't come back until all of the foreclosure homes get through the system. The government keeps slowing this down instead of speeding up the process.
