Here are two ongoing FREE music events to enjoy in League City. This is good hometown fun whether you have shrinking entertainment dollars or not.

BABA, aka Bay Area BLUEGRASS Association presents a FREE Monthly show and jam session on the third Saturday of every month (except December). You may attend at the Johnny Arolfo Civic Center, 300 W. Walker, League City,TX. Jam sessions (if you just happen to be a bluegrass picker) start at 5 pm. The STAGE SHOW starts at 7:00 pm starring local and guest bands. Whether you typically listen to bluegrass or not, this feel-good music will have your toe a-tappin' in no time. Rows of folding chairs face the stage, although some music-lovers bring their own folding camp chairs to set up themselves. There is food available to purchase, raffles of assorted items and of course donations are welcome. This is a very well-organized regular event that draws people from all over the gulf coast and beyond. March 21st is the next show. If you are feeling blue your attitude will flip-flop to sunny yellow after a little time spent enjoying the show.

The CONCERT in the PARK series happens on Saturday evenings starting at 7:00 pm in the summer, and is hosted by League City Parks and Recreation Department. FREE concerts and movies start at the end of May and run through early September in League City Park. Okay, it's a little early and perhaps a little too cold to think about attending an outdoor concert, but not too early to consider attending a show or more this year. Check your calendar now! At 7:00 pm the blast-furnace summer temperatures have come down enough to be outside and enjoy yourself. The park sign on 518/Main Street posts the weekly performers, and the music styles are varied. Some permanent benches are in place to relax on, but I recommend bringing portable seating of your own. Drinks and snacks are sold, and of course you are welcome to bring your own picnic snack. Nevermind the occasional ant. This is a family-friendly venue, 4-legged family members seem to be welcome too, but better check with the city on that detail.
