Enter more than one keyword or phrase that you are currently using or thinking of using. This will give you more and better results. I used keywords for one of my sites www.MontereyCountyForeclosures.com I am holding steady at first place for the search term " Monterey County Foreclosures". Of course my domain name helps! But that alone will not guarantee you a first place position.
I am usually at number 6 position for the term "monterey foreclosures" and have already found that term is not searched as commonly. Discovered that's only partly true...
I was shocked to discover that while "monterey foreclosures" is not a common search term - just drop off the "s" and make it "monterey foreclosure" and suddenly the results jump to 1300 inquiries for Feb.!! That totally eclipses my search term of "monterey county foreclosures".
So checked my postions: Monterey County Foreclosures - first place Monterey County Foreclosure - Second place
Montery Foreclosures - 6th place Monterey Foreclosure - 13th place - which places me on the second page for the most searched term!!
I am busily modifing my page to use the singular version - Monterey Foreclosure !!!

Google should read the singular and plural so if you write in pluaralities you are actually getting the best of both worlds. I mean you can keep the S and it should catch both ways then.
Hi Shane; Yes google should and does read it both ways. But you do not necessariy score as high for both the singular and plural - unless you work at it. There is a huge difference in my being in 6th place (first page) for Monterey Foreclosures and then for the singular - Monterey Foreclosure and being at number 13 and on the second page!
I just wrote a very similiar post about this tool. SEO for Real Estate Dummies What I discoverd is shoot for plural because it also cover the singular. I had done "my town condo" when after using the keyword tool I found out I would be much more effective using "my town condos". The tool has also given me some other great target keywords for a particuliar subject.
My most recently optimized page. Just posted it yesterday hopefully it will work its way up in position.
Kevin I think thats what I was referencing in my comment.
Most SEO people would say that you need to target every variance of the phrase. So for foreclose there is foreclosure foreclosures foreclosed foreclose and then more modifiers such as foreclosed homes home businesses. The best approach is just to try to vary this throughout the page without sounding repetitive even though you are repeating yourself. The more you can do this the more you can rank. Each word on the page is a key word but literally repeating the word does nothing it has to be slightly different. I wonder if that would help you though?
Thanks for the comments, Kevin & Shane. Yes, focusing on the plural of a word is good. But no reason you can't write at least one post with the singular of the word in the title as well as in an H1 header - in my case this may move me up to page one for the term "monterey foreclosure".
Hi Vicki & Heather, yes it's a good tool. It can help you find key words you might not have thought of using.
Impressive !! I did try key words with googles. But did not get a single lead !! Infact its better to deal with the local classified websites in the area where we work.
Try with googles and talk to them you will come to know hoe google does business.
Its a good idea to have a mix up of SEO, blogs and AD on local classified web than the google.
Just one of the many reasons why I don't play the SEO game. I'm still a fan of good old fashioned marketing that uses my Internet presence as support rather than lead generation.
