Last week was Keller Williams' national Family Reunion convention in Orlando, Florida. The company celebrated the occasion by announcing that it had just become the third largest residential brokerage in the United States (behind only Coldwell Banker (which started in the 1930's...Keller Williams started in the mid 80's) and Century 21.
Family Reunion also marked another momentous occasion...the long awaited launch of KW Commercial, the company's new, separately branded national commercial brokerage. The launch included nine classes on commercial real estate (two of which I taught), and several breakout sessions for agents and KW Commercial leadership.
I am a member of KW Commercial's national commercial leadership council, as well as its national faculty. The company has started off with a head of steam, boasting 300 plus agents already. We've already added to our numbers the founder of the entire CCIM organization, as well as one of the CCIM's sixty national instructors. We also added one of the three most successful multi-family brokers in the greater Los Angeles area.
KW Commercial expects to have 750 commercial agents by the end of the year, and 1,500 agents by the end of 2010. I am happy to report that we are already getting very seasoned agents from other brokerages. I had confidence that we would do that in due time, but I didn't expect it so fast.
We have a great model, and agents make more money with us. We have visionary leadership, and an exceptional faculty and leadership council, and I believe that this organization is going to be a major player in commercial real estate in the next couple of years.
