Ever wonder what the path to success was?  Well one belief is that "Failing is the path to success" You don't succeed your way to success.....The people who know this is a fact understand that the down is the new up...according to Gary Keller.   Strange isn't it - we don't normally think along those lines....To view past failures as the road to new opportunities - is a rather 'freeing' thought no?

When we are reminded that its those experiences and the knowledge gained from them that can actually fuel our fire and accelerate our road to success -

So what is down?  The Market...How can you change it?  You can ‘t, says Gary Keller;  ‘the market is inescapable and uncontrollable" But there is one reliable truth about every local market:  there is an equal opportunity....... Failure is the stepping stone to success....having a fierce determination to take action in even the most difficult of times will push you further then you've eve gone before..........

At KW Family Reunion last week we were blessed to have the opportunity to meet with two examples.....BILLY McLaughlin......an amazing comeback story that moved and touched us all...

And TONY Melendez - in their cases it wasn't so much 'failure' but about how they overcame the most difficult of circumstances......circumstances outside of their control....it was both humbling and inspirational..

Other examples throughout history that are perhaps better known are Abraham Lincoln.....     Thomas Edison               and Walt Disney            they'll live forever in history for the choices they made and because despite the trials and tribulations, challenges and failures that ultimately led to amazing success..........all because they chose to never give up!

"We are what we decide we will be, and we do what we decide we will do.  We become our Choices"  What are your choices?

Liz - It is so important not to get down but to continue to push forward.  There is certainly opportunities even in a market that is perceived as bad.

Liz, I loved your post.  Some things we can't change...what we CAN change is our attitude and I believe that creates a "shift."  I loved your last line the most, it's a wonderful quote.

Liz,

There are certain things we can control and things that we cannot.  The difference is in how we acknowledge them!  Take care and happy blogging!

Excellent post.  I agree that learning takes place when we learn from our mistakes.  Just don't get in the habit of repeating them.

Hey LIz... For whatever reasons, I just don't define failures as "failures."  Just like I don't think of decisions or forks in the road as "good" or "bad."  What happens, happens.  It is what it is.  Only question is whether or not I can learn anything or gain anything from my experiences, and then look forward to my next adventure!  But I get your meaning, so thanks for the reminder!   ;-)

As I was wandering around the internet this morning I came across a quote by Thomas Edison.  He said (in reference to his lightbulb invention).  "It didn't work 10,000 times, but oh my that 10,001th time, eureka!"

Talk about never giving up :-)

You and Mr. Edison uplifted me this morning Liz.  Thank you :-)

I was so disappointed my plane was stuck in the snow and couldn't get there to hear Gary. I have heard over and over how inspiring it was. Good recap of how we can be successful in the midst of failure if we are determined. It has been proven over and over again.

Liz, great post!  We must all realize that with every failure, we are closer to success.  As long as you are trying, you are not failing.  I know these are all cliche's, but I believe in them.
