A free chipping program is being offered by the Fire Safe Council of San Diego County and the Resource Conservation District for residents in 25 wildfire-prone comunities. Crews will actually bring a chipper to the residence. Brush should be cut and piled up to six feet high and should be free of any mud, rocks, or other non-chippable debris such as plastic. If you're not going to be home, make sure that the pile is near a road or other location where the crews can get to it with the chipper.
