So, What's your opinion on NASCAR Today?

I recently found this group (NASCAR Nation) and I am very happy I did.  So here's my question to the NASCAR faithful.  Am I the only one who feels this way, or is NASCAR just too darn............. well ..............NICE

Perfectly polished corporate ready drivers who barely stray from the "Well our Impala SS DuPont Pepsi Frito Lay Nicorette Quaker State GMAC Chevrolet was running great today, I really gotta thank the guys back at the shop.... The engine guys and the fab guys really work hard and its nice to pull out a win for ‘em".   I mean, I know that without sponsorship, there is no NASCAR, but without excitement, there ain't no fans.  If I really wanted stone chiseled men with supermodel looks, cant I just watch F1?  Shutter the thought.

And what about the COT?  I know the drivers say it's a handful, but man!  This last Las Vegas race aside, with the number of green flag laps run in recent memory, it sure looks like they have a handle on it.  Sure put the squash on the bump and run, not that many are willing to get outside the box and do that anymore.

And while I'm on my soapbox ..... Since when is Bristol a track with 2 grooves?  I remember when we used to look forward to Bristol weeks in advanced because it made the drivers so mad, caused animation, and was well..... exciting!  Now it's as exciting to watch as a conveyer belt ('cept for the last 10 laps).

Trust me, I am not one to watch racing for the wrecks, I got into racing after rebuilding my first Chevy small block and got an appreciation for what 12:1 compression and 9000 RPMs for 500 miles really means.

But ..... gimme something....... Remember when Jeff Gordon pushed Matt Kenseth?   They played that clip every week for the rest of the season.  It's STILL fun to watch!  This year, the  Jr and Vickers saga continues, but where's the excitement?

NASCAR --- give these guys a break!   Let em race, let em show some darn emotion.

Now there's a LOT of whining in this post.  I admit it, but I am having fun with this, most of my posts are much more serious and work related.  Having said all that, I still LOVE the sport, watch every race, and try to go to between 2 and 4 a year.  But please, someone disagree with me, call me names, say I'm an idiot, tell me Jr sucks, or something!  Cause some controversy!   Cause I ain't getting it on Sunday!

Oh, and by the way, this Amazing Video Tours blog post was brought to you by Nikon DSLRs, Canon Pro camcorders, Gatorade, GE Suprakey,  and the National Association of Realtors. I'd like to thank all the Realtors that employ my services and allow me to put food on the table for my kids.

Long Live THE 3

Hi Steve, well, you are passionate about Nascar, that's for sure! I know nothing, just wanted to ask if that is kinda like the way hockey used to be as to the way it is now? You know, smash em kill em beat em with the stick Johnny MacKenzie style hockey? If not, I don't have a CLUE what you are talking about, but always happy when someone shares their passion.

Racing is no longer a sport.  It is now a business.

The season is early.  There will be dust-ups for sure.  We're only 3 races in, for goodness sakes.  I was shocked at how subdued Kyle Busch has been.  Even when he was wrecked in the Jr/Vickers fiasco, he was really calm about it.  But, you know he'll flap his mouth at some point because that's the way he is.  Tony Stewart, Kyle Busch and Robbie Gordon.  You know we can count on some gems from them.  I loved the "here kitty kitty kitty" that Smoke gave us last week.  Funny!

Oh, and Jr sucks, by the way!  Your ever-loyal Jeff Gordon fan, Heather. :P

Steve great post we really do need more ass whooping when some one wrecks someone else just like the good old days.....Tony and Ryan both already started on the Goodyear tires....and Jr does suck he only has fans because of his daddy and because he is good looking like me.....well almost as good looking as me......And I do like the wrecks (as long as they don't get hurt) we have lost to many great drivers to that....Hey I was going to be a F1 drive ?  whats wrong with that ?

And I would also like to thank Compaq for allowing me to comment and JVC and Samsung for my great photos and my moma for my looks..

I liked it better when they were slinging helmets and really racing too.  Not that I want anyone to get hurt, I don't, but I do love hard racing.  And Zane- not good looking... get it right it's because JR is HOT!

LOL - Sorry for my absence - darn work gets in the way of fun sometimes.

I am not really in a position to comment on who's hotter, Zane or Jr - but the women in the office are voting for JR (sorry, Zane).

I will say that Jr is THE MAN and he is great because he is great, his dad's legacy aside.  He earned his fans in 2001 (tell me you didn't cry just a little when he came back and won the July Daytona race).  He's masterful at the plate races, decent on the mile & a half's, and old school on the short tracks.  He will have his day in the spotlight, mark my words!  He's made some mistakes this year, and had some bad luck, but I like his consistency since climbing in the 88.  Juuuuuuuuuunnnnnnniiiiiioooooorrrrrrr!

Steve......I miss the old Winston racing.....when rubbing, cussing and a good fist fight happened at every race.  I spent years in the pits with my husband at the races and had a great viewpoint of behind the scenes.

As far as COT.....HATE IT!!!!  I can drive the cars today.  The best engineers and the teams that figure out the ways to cheat without being caught will finish in the top 5 week after week.
