An interesting article appeared today on the MSN home page entitled; "7 Tips to Sell Your Home in a Crowded Market." One of the suggestions, for sellers who live in a neighborhood where there are many other homes for sale, is to have a "joint Open House." I have participated in something like this a couple of times with other Agents from other offices who represent sellers in the same neighborhood. We held a progressive Open House, where each house provided a different "entree/food." All of the agents shared in the cost of advertising an Open House Map in the newspaper. It was a huge success and we drew in a crowd of 50+ people, where otherwise, we might have only seen 2-3 couples walking through the Open House.

One of the other great tips in the article was "Staging Your Home." Many of us underestimate the importance of staging. Fixing, cleaning, and de-cluttering the home should be an essential prerequisite before putting the house on the market. Sellers need to know that their home is in a beauty contest and a price war... and they can't afford to lose either!
