How Do People Get Smart?

This morning my youngest son looked up at me and asked "Dad, how do people get smart"?

I smiled down at him and said, "They read books."

After a few seconds, he looked back at me with a puzzled expression and said, "Then, who wrote the books?".

I know that you might think the simple answer is other people wrote the books, but ... Never mind.

It's the age old which came first, the chicken or the egg? Maybe you can tell your son that in the beginning smart monkeys wrote books. Hope he doesn't ask about the infinity of the universe and what lays beyond.

That was great... Kids around a certain age have questions on many thing its funny when one as an adult we cannot find answers for those small questions sometimes. Or if we do the next questions comes up and a never ending list of questions pops up.
