ChandelierHave you ever walked into a home and had something hit you as just off, not right or just didn't fit in with the rest of the home?  All of us have, and this home was no exception. I was called in on a Home Staging in Santa Barbara, CA which had been almost totally renovated.  New floors, new skim coat and paint, new recessed lighting - then I saw "it".  "It" was brass, and crystal,  dull and dusty.  "It" was already the replacement of what was previously there because the family had run out of money to finish the home before it went on the market.  I even offered to REPLACE "It" out of my own money.  "It" just wasn't working with the rest of the house...  But "It" was a non-negotiable item, it had to stay...

So I EMBRACED  "It", and I must say it was one the more difficult Home Staging jobs trying to plan décor around a 20 year old crystal and brass chandelier to make it work.  But I think we did a FINE job.  Adding a little glitz and glamour, it now looks right at "home".

We added the great beveled mirror to add some drama and brighten the room, added crystal decanters and glasses to the buffet table, and brought that attention into the Living room with glass ball table lamps and candlesticks.

Very nice job, Connie. I think you incorporated the chandelier nicely. Melissa filled me in on all the gorey details:o))

Don't you just hate that when they replace things before you are in the picture!  You did a great job working around it.

I think it looks beautiful.  I have seen lots of chandeliers on "The Shows" lately.  Even though this one is brass, it looks very glam and "Candice Olsen".  Great job.

Michelle M ~ Do you mean, "here an oak, there an oak, every where an oak-oak"? =) Or was it me and mustard on my shirt?  Or was it the rain & mud?  Yes, it was a hard day, who ever said Home Staging was glamorous?

Sharon ~ Yes, these things happen.  but it goes to show that not everything needs to be "replaced"

Lori ~ I'm not worthy! Candice Olsen?!?!? I'm NOT worthy!

Kathy P ~ Thank you, sometimes "It" is all you've got to work with

Kathy N & Laurie ~ I am very proud of the finished product on this one. Thank you as well

I have an ultra modern home with a similar chandelier, I suggested they replaced it.  It's real crystal, but it doesn't go with the rest of the house.  I may have to revisit that suggestion with them.

It looks great Connie. As if you wanted it there :)

The fabric on the dining room chairs, the artwork, mirror and accessories all tie the chandelier in beautifully!  You did a great job of incorporating the client's non-negotiable items in the staging!

WOW!  You gave that chandelier a new life!  It works beautifully with the decor (and I generally don't like crystal chandeliers....)  You are a true designer.

Well that works.  Sometimes you just have to make the most of it, and make it look like it was meant to be there.

You defined what good Staging is about...you took something and made the most of it ...you made it work to your advantage...instead of an eye sore you made it eye candy!...GREAT JOB looks beautiful!

Beautiful job, Connie.  That's a long way to go to stage a house - I hope it was worth it for you!

Cindy ~ This was real Waterford Crystal as well.  And chandeliers are becoming back in a whole new way.  In an unltra modern house, I think it would be really cool - add the glimmer and glam with slick lines - OOOooohhhhhh - AAAhhhhhhhh

Thanks, Wendy ~  I did want it there ;-D

Lisa S. ~ Thank you,  The chairs actually came with a beigie slipcover over them - I didn't realize until they were in the home that the slip covers were removable - so OFF they went!

Lisa R., Cathy & Michelle H ~  ***You are too kind***

Sandi ~ Exactly.  As much as we would love for everything to be "new", I rather like incorporating eclectic peices into my Interior Designs & Decor.

Liz ~ "Eye Candy"  I like that!
