Where the auditor says the house is... I guess you would call that the legal description....
Something else....
It's sure easier when you meet someone locally to say I live in Worthington, rather than I live in the City of Columbus but the Worthington School District... or I live in the City of Columbus but in the Westerville School District and my mailing address is...
You just want to give people a general idea... They just want a general idea.
Many Central Ohioans live in an area that is in the city of Columbus but in a suburban school district. Or our mailing address is NOT Columbus. I wrote about an area that I think of as Westerville and someone who lives there thinks of as Gahanna. I am not trying to prove I am right... he lives where he lives.
It is not just residents of Columbus, most people I know who live in townships will say "I live in Worthington" rather than "I live in Sharon Township" or "I live in Parry Township."
I just wonder how you define where you live. It's a piece of cake for those of you who live in the city of Worthington which is of course in the Worthington School District and gets a Worthington address and your counterparts in other suburbs. Take the poll and tell me how you know WHERE you live.

Funny that you would post this. Just the other day, someone asked me where I lived. I said Williamson County. Immediately they said, OH! Franklin. I said yes. I really live in Brentwood. Kinda goes to show you that folks will put you where they want you to live...

Thanks for the comment but no that is not what this is about. It is not about where people think you live, it is about where you think you live.
I have lived in the Milwaukee area in the city of Waukesha Wisconsin, Madison Wisconsin, Green Bay Wisconsin, Rockford Illinois, Akron Ohio, West Carrollton Ohio (a Dayton suburb) and Columbus Ohio since 1990. No place has been as confusing as Columbus.
You can buy a house in a neighborhood called Worthington Highlands, with a Westerville Ohio mailing address which is legally in the City of Columbus and the Worthington School District. I would say I lived in Worthington but I sold a house to someone in Worthington Highlands who thought they lived in Westerville because that was where their post office was.
It's not a problem, people find their way home at the end of the day.
