Here are some practical suggestions that may help you increase your bottom line.

Every down cycle brings with it opportunities that other's don't see....   And yet it's as plain as the nose on your face if you only look of them.     Follow the news....   What companies are shutting down, laying off employees?   What companies are hiring?  What new businesses are opening up?     This is all people news...  It will tell you the circumstances of people in your community and give you clues of who's buying....and who may need to sell.   It will give you a great insight into income situations.    What areas of your city are undergoing downward change or revitalization?   Where's the money going these days...?

Never be afraid of failing..    EVERYONE FAILS AT ONE TIME OR ANOTHER IN THEIR LIVES...   It's no sin to FAIL!!  Retain confidence in yourself even in the face of failure.  The way you get past the fear of failing is by setting realistic goals and then attaining them.   Find something you can win at (no matter how small) every day......and then build on that.

No one gets to first base without a goal....or a plan.   What plans have you made for this day?    If you've made no plans, then your chances of success are slimmer.    Write your plans down and follow them through.

Learn the value of time management.   If you don't know what real time management is....find out!!  Look it up on the internet.   You'll find plenty of advice you can use.   Wasting time and spinning wheels accomplishes nothing.

Choose your friends wisely.   Make friends with those who are smarter than you.    They will gradually bring your thinking up to their level.   Be humble......listen more than talk.

Seek honest feedback from close confidants to your big plans....before you leap.   Ask them, "WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS PLAN?"   Make a written list of all the risks involved with your plan and then weigh them out.   Never make a snap decision on anything, especially if it involves money...or those you love and respect.

Focus.....   Hone in on your goals..   Don't be distracted by rabbits if you're hunting elephants.

Reward yourself in some small way when you've accomplished something notable.

Never stop learning..   Never stop preparing.   Apply what you've learned to your business.

Be healthy in body, mind and spirit.   Eat well, dress well, get plenty of sleep and exercise.   Pay attention to good hygiene.   How others see you can make all the difference between success and failure.

Be a joiner..   Be a networker..   Don't just meet people, make relationships.

Most people are great at reading tips and ideas...   They're even great at replying to blogs ....but only a daring few are ready and willing to make definite changes in their lives for the better.   With all my heart, I hope you're one of them.

I have a friend in California where he says the attitude is, "if you haven't filed bankruptcy, you're not trying hard enough!".  Interesting attitude in this environment:)
