Cincinnati is number four... hmmmm wonder why, they don't have the Arnold Classic. The Arnold Classis is in Columbus this weekend, downtown in the Arena Disctrict.
Rounding out the top 10 is Toledo. Dayton and Cleveland are in the top 20.
Pro-sports teams, trips to hardware stores, monster truck rallies boost a cities manliness.
The ranking is from Combos Snacks? Combos sponsored the ranking for Sperling's BestPlaces but I can't see the Manliest Cities on the Sperlings BestPlaces site.
"Manly, yes but I like it too"
I thought when I first heard it that the honor was from Irish Spring Soap... because of their "Manly Deodorant Soap." I could not find a video with that phrase but here's an old Irish Spring commercial in Spanish. I love it. It says "A Manly Deodorant Soap" on the Irish Spring soap's packaging.
Fifty US cities were ranked according to the Columbus Dispatch
Here's a Houston Paper with the full list from the Associated Press if you need to check for another city.
OK, you already know you make me laugh. But I mean really. I laughed out loud at this one. Commercial and all. Now I have to go find out what a "manly" city is. I think I may need to relocate.
Really unless you want to have an opporytunity to go to monster truck rallies I am not sure what the appeal would be... to women... well other than those manly men roaming the streets. I believe we have a very diverse population of men and women, but it is always fun when Columbus is on a list. Well except when it is a fattest city list... it's been years.
Hi Maureen... I just checked the whole list out and I am still scratching my head. I don't get it. But I enjoyed the headline on the Houston based site that you linked to. It's proof that the Dallas-Houston rivalry is alive and well... “Survey: Houston more manly than New York, but not as manly as Dallas”
Dallas and Houston are really pretty close. I posted the Houston article because they do post all 50 markets. I like the first couple of paragraphs of that Houston article because they are talking about Ohio's predominance in the ranking... I thought that was funny. Men all over Ohio can take pride as "manly men" I guess.
It is a funny list in so many ways.
I am glad that Houston is more manly than New York City...
Whose commercial has a bunch of cowboys around a campfire, talking about salsa? ... and they say "New York City" Pace?
I obviously pay way too much attention to TV commercials...
Buying tools, visits to hardware stores... professional sports team....Monster Truck rallies. Milwaukee is #17? I think... with a professional basketball and baseball team.. I was going to say football duh... the Green Bay is in front of Packers.... Columbus has pro soccer, pro hockey and a farm league baseball team... not sure if college sports enter into it. Probably not.
I don't think they checked chest hair or any body part measurements.
Speaking of biggest biceps the Arnold Classic is in Columbus this weekend. A yearly manly event.. Or I guess the lady body builders are here too.
Columbus was on a really funny list a year or so ago...
HI Maureen, Everard used to live in Columbus Ohio, specifically dublin for 3 years. It's a beautiful area. Columbus is a great place to buy real estate.
