Snow or No Snow…Only a Turkey would Forget to SPRING FORWARD Tonight!

By
Real Estate Agent with Boardman Realty Minnesota License#90858

Springing forward is a bit of a let down when snow is still in the forecast. Springtime is one of my favorite times of year in Minnesota. It is the time of year when the snow melts and the ground thaws so quickly that the winter white world seems to change overnight into an array of green shades from lime to emerald. Flowers start budding. Birds sing late into the evening. Everything starts anew again.

Wild Turkey in Ham Lake by Teri Eckholm Realtor

Like last year, we are springing forward earlier than we had in the past many years of daylight savings time. As March is one of Minnesota's snowiest months, we will have a bit to wait before spring really arrives.

Turkeys in Ham Lake Sod Field
But having the sunset is an hour later starting tomorrow is a blessing in the spring real estate market. It means that showing those vacant foreclosures in the evening hours will no longer be an adventure! Viewing properties without an exterior light to shine on the ice on the unsalted stairway is treacherous. Starting tomorrow a bit of the challenge has been removed but the bargains are still available. The warm spring weather and green grass won't be far behind!

Hi Teri, I guess even the Turkeys know that Spring is a good time as not so many chasing them as a source for a dinner. A great way to announce the extra hour of daylight we are all looking forward to.

William--Only chasing them with my car...really I am trying to avoid the goofy birds. If I can just avoid them when the jump out of the ditch and cross my road every morning and afternoon we will be in good shape. There are 27 in the flock at the last count. Always in our road...Boy are they big birds too!

Teri -

I love to "Spring Forward" - I'm not a morning person and the longer days are good to me.

I also show more property in the evenings with the lengthening days.  - Happy Hunting

Pat--We eat turkey but not the wild ones! We are not hunters in our family. The only family member known to have killed one of these birds is me...with my car. It was not a pretty site.

Lynda--They are huge birds...It is crazy when the flock walks across our backyard. My younger son likes to chase them to see if they will fly.

Debbie--I think everyone loves the longer evening hours that has to show houses. It is just one of the many blessings and signs of spring around the corner.

There was Turkey in my circle of friends: my daughter's b-ball coach forgot to re-set the clock and was late for the morning game.

Teri, We had two beautiful days of Spring.  One was yesterday, we broke a record and it was 70 degrees.  I'm sure we'll see more snow but it sure was a nice indication that Spring IS just around the corner!

Carole--70's sound wonderful. We would have been close this weekend if we didn't have the snow pack. Another winter blast is forecasted for tomorrow.... :( Spring will be here soon though.
