American's, we're on our own...RE agents, home owners, do you agree?

American's, we're on our own...RE agents, we will survive...what does this mean? Read on.

OK, I've been busy for a while.  Been out of the state visiting my father, however, I'm back in Florida and working with some very intelligent people who have decided to take advantage of the market and to invest their money where eventually it will pay off.

Apparently, the government as it is being governed right now, is going no where.  We have a President who is in the midst of a situation that he cannot control.  Not that I am blaming him, this was not his doing, however, this is also something that in my opinion, MY OPINION ONLY, HE was to green to handle.

After all.  He was a senator for one year and campaigned for two more.  There were so many other qualified individuals who have succeeded in reversing the effects of a debacle that exists who were dismissed due to the the word "change"...

OK, yes, you Mr. President went to every college and every individual that never voted, never cared to vote, or didn't even know that one had to vote.  You are now in office.

You cannot get the Republican party to support you.  You are not getting a bi-partisan vote.  You cannot even get some of those who you have chosen to run part of your government employees.

You have not solve the crises, which is...people need to have a home.

They need the banks to work with home owners.  Why won't the banks give people who are in financial difficulty interest rates that the banks are currently offering, so that they can still stay in their homes?

This government doesn't make sense to me.  If we can offer, 5% financing now, and people are losing their homes because they have balloon mortgages from 2005-2006 at ridiculous rates, why can't we offer the people that are currently in short sale status and pre-foreclosure the same deals?

If banks can offer these low rates to new home owners, why don't the banks save the individuals who were hurt in the past by the people they were duped by in the past?

Rather than having people falling into foreclosures and loosing their homes, why not offer them the new rates and be glad that you, the banks holding the mortgages, get PAID?

I don't get the idiotic thinking that is going on with the lenders.

Hey if I'm wrong, tell me!  If you agree, tell me!  If you have an opinion, tell me.  Thanks, Karen

You cover a lot of tough topics...Yes, the Prez was too green, over hyped, and I think EVERYONE is starting to see he might have sounded good, but now doesn't really know what to do about it all....

It does seem like homeowners are on their own....the plans they come out with don't sound like they really help the majority of issues people are having....

Pat,

Exactly my point.  So we are no better than we were before. Actually, we're probably worse. I just want other's opinions on this as I have heard lots of concerns on this topic.

Mitt Romney probably would have been better to help this economy...or maybe even Guilliani...at least they had to deal with this situation in the past.

Socialism...it just scares me.

Welcome to the politics of perception.  In order to succeed, one needs to appear to do something, appear to care and seem to have an idea.

The one thing I would disagree with is that real estate can be fixed.  The cycle has to run, or there will be bigger uglier problems down the road.  The problem is that all of this money that is being spent... on all sorts of crap... isn't going to do much more than saddle us with debt.

Lane,

Perception is a thought.

Reality could be thought of as an action.

Appearances can be facades.

Cycles run, but a cycle can be fixed is the one in charge knows how to handle one.

The one who needs to handle it, needs to know how to employ one who has the knowledge to do so.

AND, the courage to make to right choice, without a party affiliation involved.

JMHO.

I think that President Obama is at least trying to do something. And he doesn't have to get a large number of Republicans to come along- which is a good thing, because they would cause a grid-lock otherwise. I think that if McCain had won we would be doing the same old things that got us into the problems and wondering why it wasn't helping.

Are you proposing that we nationalize all the mortgage holders, so we can tell them exactly what to do with all the mortgages? Isn't that exactly what the Republicans DON'T want, calling it socialism?

It took 8 years under George W. to get us into this mess, it will take awhile to get us out.

p.s.- Good heavens- AR put a jillion copies of my comment on, and I had to delete them all. What happened?

I agree with you that this candidate was "too green" for the job. . .  in more ways than one.  I also think that a problem of this magnitude would have been an unbelieveable challenge to anyone.  So I don't think McCain or any Republican would have had an easier time.  You are right that the Banks should be re-writing their loans at today's rates and eliminating the adjustable rate mortgages that are killing so many homeowners.  Many people would be able to stay in their homes thereby eliminating a huge number of foreclosures.
