People were lined up for ice cream at Jeni's as you can see in the picture... really my phone's camera does NOT do this justice.
It has been about 15 months since I have been to the Gallery Hop. The Gallery Hop is always the first Saturday of each month. I used to go to the Galery Hop a lot.
One of the best things about the Gallery Hop for me is the people watching. Part of the people watching is what they wear of course. There was everything from flip flops to boots as far as footwear. I saw shorts. I saw strapless dresses. Others resisted the urge to break out their summer clothes.
I live in the far north reaches of the city of Columbus, north of 270... yet there are pieces of Columbus north of me in Delaware County.... the drive down to the Short North is 15 miles and about 22 minutes.
Heres' a Real Living video about the area (& more.) One of the "art car" owners narrates the story. That Car (that's the license plate) with the baby heads... I guess doll parts is a more appropriate description... was parked on the west side at the south end of High Street on Saturday night, I got a couple of marginal photos...
As I look at the snow that dusted the deck...I have to say, I am jealous...hopping here at the moment would bruising all kinds of parts ! Send us the sunshine !
We're back down in the 50's today. I'll still take it.
Saturday when it was warm and windy I was remembering sitting in a Milwaukee neighborhood my sister lived in.. in the late 80's or early 90's. She lived above a middle eastern owned grocery store in an "old" Polish neighborhood. Her apartment was kitty corner to a Catholic Church we called St. Polska Kielbasa. I drove in from Ohio on a Saturday and sat in my car waiting for her to get home and people watched. It was a warm day I remember a guy wearing shorts and a hooded winter parka (fur around the hood) with the hood up. It may have been windy. I thought all the Polish families had moved away from the people on the street until the church bells started ringing for the Saturday evening mass. They started pouring out of their homes. Some of the ladies were wearing chiffon scarfs as if they were still stuck in the 60s.
