While we move forward with our careers, home-life and personal activities, there are many of us (especially me) who have had a battle with dropping weight. I know there are others such as myself out there in the AR community who suffer silently and are in the same boat. What is one to do? Well..........

I have created a support group called AR slim slow support group for our community to join who either have great ideas to lose weight or in need of support. If you have an inspiring story that may help out those who are in need- such as myself and my struggles, please feel free to join and lend a helping hand!! I think besides helping ourselves with our career questions and networking; why not help ourselves personally? Please feel free to join in and lend a helping hand and sharing your inspiring stories or even for support for yourselves!

I am always trying new ways to lose weight.  When I was younger I was so tiny and after forty it's been hard.  I have tons of equipment.  I have the treadmill, the EFX machine, a universal, the Chuck Norris / Christy Brinkley Total gym, I have the Jack Lalanes juicer ... Basically I have an exercise equipment graveyard....I have most of the equipment in one room and a few machines in my garage.

I have five kids...my oldest son is 25 years old.  I am always moving around to keep up after them which is helpful too.

I have found that the most effective way for me  is to wear my IPod and listen to my favorite music with my weights, exercise ball and my Bean and I workout while I watch TV.  I blast the music and dance around.  I call it  Free Form...I just do what I want.  Make it fun.  I wear the music when I clean the house too...

This Fall I am joining an outdoor Boot Camp that will meet 3-5 times per week for a more aggressive program.

Weight Loss is something that I am always working on...I try and stay away from sugar.  I eat a lot of Salmon and broccoli.

I eat oatmeal a lot.  I really prefer oatmeal with butter, sugar and milk.  So I now make oatmeal and spray the no cal butter spray on my oatmeal and use sugar substitute and fat free milk.

The big thing is to try and stay away from sugar.  I was given the South Beach Diet Book for a gift and after a year I finally opened it.

I tried the South Beach Diet and lost 13 pounds in the first two weeks.  I just couldn't stick with it.

My Free Form is the most fun and easy to do.  Lunges are great for your legs and butt...I will lunge all through the house...

I usually cheat on weekends.  Not too much exercise and I eat whatever...You only live once.

This is how I feel....

Well I must say you have a great idea about the music while you clean, exercise and such! I love to listen to music and that would be something that would work good for me. I also have 3 children, my oldest is 18 and they keep me busy- however seems like I am always cooking because they are hungry every five minutes- LOL! I have a few peices of work out equipment too- got the glider machine, etc. I will have to try that suggestion.

As for sugar, I gave it up a long time ago. The only time I ever used sugar was in my coffee but I use flavored creamer- sugar free and it seems to be perfect for my coffee. My weakness is pasta and bread. I have cut back on both but I guess not enough.

Thank you so much for your ideas.

I was so skinny when I was a kid but I got over that!  Darn.  I think an AR weight conscious support groups is a great idea.    In our busy lives I think it's hard do discipline ourselves o take the time to cook and eat healthy.  It's so easy to grab something quick and be on our way to the next task.  It's not that we don't know how to eat healthy.  It's actually doing it that's the challenge.
