YEP YOU HEARD ME. Blogging is a waste of time. At least that is what someone told me today. It is a big fat waste of my time. I hope they continue to think that way. I think it is far from a waste of time.

In my short time on here I have picked up 2 leads. If I close both leads it will total over 1/2 a million in sales. That is big money in Mississippi. That aint no waste of time either. Those leads came through localism. Check out my local area on localism. Go ahead I'll wait for you................................................................ It looks like my own personal website. It looks that way because I have worked at itand added communities, pictures, listings and area info. Could someone else do this too? Sure they could but they aren't. By having localism tied up it puts me on the 1st page of a google search for my area.

I have also learned a great deal from other professionals here on active rain. I learn about some thing new everyday. I am gaining lots of knowledge about Internet marketing and other great tools to help me in my daily routine. I just bought the blackberry pearl because of info I gained here and I love it. Once my new website is up and live I am confident it will be on the first pageof google after awhile because of things I have learned from here and from my tech guy. My old siteis already on the first page of yahoo and msn.

I have also managed to tick off another broker here in my town. He wasthe featured agent until I found active rain. He also got mad because I told the truth about how his company works on here. I suppose he wanted to keep that secret but I am all about letting the consumer be informed of all choices so they can make an educated decision when choosing their agent. I did not down the other company. Frankly I think the concept is a good one. I have a friend who owns a franchise of that comapny and I know it is a good concept. I think the way they advertise is a bit misleading but when you get down to it the company is a good one. Oh well you can't please everybody.

Something else I just learned is that spell check on here doesn't recognize blogging or google or localism as words yet. See there you learn something every day. I have also learned about http://www.zillow.com/ and http://www.trulia.com/ both of which contain all my listings now. Not many agents in my area place there listings on those so it is another tool to help me in my business. I learned it here.

So to everyone who thinks I am wasting time please continue to think that.

thanks for the info, I hadn't heard of trulia yet.  I appreciate you taking the time to pass on the info.  I find zillow to be helpful as a loan officer in quickly getting a rough idea of value.

I currently am working on 2 leads from ActiveRain a 9.1 million dollar and a 5.3 million dollar both residential purchases.  If it is a waste of time, I am going to continue until the last breath is out of my career.

Good job!  I clicked on your link. I can see how you got two good leads off of Localism.

Hey Jeff, for those that feel blogging is a waste of time....fine.  I can understand that.  Your bottom line in a sense is your business...maybe they will understand that too.  Personally, I love writing and this forum gives me the ability to do so about the very profession I am in.  That also leads to some people out there who would have never found me and me never finding them the ability to do so.  Sounds to me like you are doing a lot of things, one of those things is blogging, and it seems to this humble commentator that is by no means wasting your time.  I say let them waste their time professing how much they think you are wasting your time.

David -  Sounds like your career has many more breaths to take.

Congratulations Jeff, on your listings.  I really hope they close.  Aren't you glad you discovered Active Rain?  We're a part of great supportive community, AND we get rated higher on Google, AND it can bring us leads.  What more could a person want??

Localism has been a valuable addition to Active Rain and is getting more and more visitors every day. Glad you're able to "own" the Tupelo site.

As you know, the spirit of Active Rain is to help each other.  The best way that I've found is by hitting each others' website, to improve internet search rankings.  I checked out your website, and I liked that bomb looking house that you have in the upper right hand corner.  If you have a second, please reciprocate the favor by checking out my website at http://www.southerncaliforniaappraisers.net/
