Well, it finally happened - I got a ticket! It was 9:15 in the morning a week ago, I was driving in a part of St Petersburg that I am not familiar with and noticed that I was passing first an elementary school and then right next to it a high school. Then the lights and siren - a police car was pulling me over!!!!!
I was going 26 MPH and the regular speed is 35 MPH - there were NO cones out, no flashing school lights - so what gives????? Seems the times to go 15 MPH were still in effect!!! WHAT???? I got a ticket for $291 and after I was pulled over about 8 other cars were also pulled over behind me - A SPEED TRAP????? There were NO flashing lights to indicate 15 MPH was in effect!!!!
So that points don't go on my license and hurt my insurance rates, I have already started the online class which cost another $35!!!! I am seriously considering going to court on this one since I do NOT feel that this was handled correctly!
Here in North Pinellas we have flashing school zone lights and orange/white stripped cones out when drivers have to slow down - they don't have those same rules in St Petersburg??? I don't get this one!!!!
